PEERLESS PURPLE PENGUIN PROGNOSTICATIONS (PPPP): WEEK FOUR!!!

Last week’s results: 6-2
Richmond at Niagara Prediction: NIA 90-0 Actual: NIA 114-0
Baton Rouge at Saginaw Prediction: SAG 27-6 Actual: SAG 24-16
Cleveland at Red Bank Prediction: CLV 26-17 Actual: RB 13-0
South Bend at Texas Prediction: TEX 34-14 Actual: TEX 50-7
Jax Beach at Louisville Prediction: LOU 49-10 Actual: LOU 37-3
Houston at Charlotte Prediction: HOU 35-14 Actual: HOU 23-0
Appalachian at Atlanta Prediction: ATL 20-16 Actual: ATL 23-0
Lincoln at Las Vegas Prediction: LV 34-14 Actual: LIN 36-12

Not bad, but I missed the Game of the Week. Uh, no wait, uh actually I meant to reverse those scores so my Prediction was, uh, actually LINCOLN 34 and Las Vegas 14, so in reality I was very very close!!!

Not buying it, eh?

Oh well. On to this week’s forecast:

(8) Baton Rouge Bayou Bengals (0-3) at Richmond Empire (0-3)-----Well, what can you say about this game? Two teams with identical records, but other than that, not much alike. The Bengals are trying to scratch and claw their way to respectability under their new owner, while the Empire is, well, how about “consistent”? There’s no reason to think that Richmond won’t continue to do what they do best…..BATON ROUGE-38 RICHMOND-10

(7) Jax Beach Juggernauts (0-3) at Cleveland Buckeyes (1-2)-----Two very similar teams looking to generate some winning momentum to jump-start their season. Both with a standout CB and a go-to WR but not quite as strong at the QB position. Both are a bit inconsistent along the line of scrimmage. Both have similar strengths of schedule. This is a hard one to Pick, but may be an outstanding game to watch! Gotta choose one or the other, so I’m going to go with Jax Beach based on their superior team Chemistry……JAX BEACH-21 CLEVELAND-16

(6) South Bend ShamRockers (0-3) at Appalachian Lycans (1-2)-----Appalachian has put together one of, if not THE most talented lineups in the conference but the damage to their Chemistry combined with a vicious early schedule has them saddled with a losing record. Their misfortune was to Play Niagara and Atlanta early in the season before the Chemistry issue settled out. Not to worry though. Two of their NEXT 4 opponents are 0-3. They are Primed to make a run that my not stop until they are in the League Championship. South Bend, OTOH, is having a tough time so far despite their QB, Papa Dynamite, being #4 in the conference in Passing. Even the Level 20 twin towers at DT, Patato Skins and Green Hornet haven’t been able to stem the Parade of Points the ShamRockers defense has surrendered. This one could get ugly…….APPALACHIAN-45 SOUTH BEND-3

(5) Red Bank Thundercats (1-2) at The State of Texas Domination (2-1)-----Red Bank got their first win of the season against league newcomers Cleveland last week, but find themselves faced with a very good Texas team that got back on track with a 50-7 walloping of South Bend.. Red Bank is a good team, much improved from last year, but against the balanced attack of the Domination’s Minor Applewhite and Quicky McQuickQuick the Thundercats are just outmatched. Red Bank’s star LT, Vincent Treehorn, Plays on the wrong side of the line to help against Rehkin Ball, who looks like he’s just boosted and is ready to wreak havoc upon the league once again. Texas rolls for the second straight week…..TEXAS-42 RED BANK-20

(4) Atlanta Purple Penguins (3-0) at Saginaw Spirit (1-2)-----Atlanta faced a stiff challenge against Appalachian and emerged victorious. Saginaw has apparently replaced their DC and gotten back on the winning side and are a better team than their record indicates. Saginaw’s Passing game will be key and with an OL whose starters average OVER Level 18 and Jimmy Wallace at QB, they certainly have the Potential to Produce, but Pete Grind may have a tough day at HB---Atlanta has only allowed 11.8 yds/GAME rushing! (No, that’s not a typo.) On defense, while Lance Lockdown, uh, “locks down” his man, he may find that he needs a bit more help from his teammates against the stable of WRs Atlanta fields. I’m going to call this one for the Purple Penguins……….ATLANTA-28 SAGINAW-13

(3) Charlotte Panthers (2-1) at Louisville Baby Kittens (3-0)-----Charlotte is another team that had a Productive off season and has retooled and reloaded for the current campaign. They’ve taken two close games from Jax Beach and Red Bank but their Coastal Carnage ended last week when Houston spanked them 23-0. Now they run into a buzzsaw in Louisville. A cute and cuddly buzzsaw, but a buzzsaw nonetheless. Kamikaze Kitten leads the entire league in Passing yardage and TDs. Only in GLB can a ferocious group of jungle cats get Pounded into submission by Baby Kittens…….LOUISVILLE-31 CHARLOTTE-14

(2) Houston Armageddon (2-1) at Las Vegas Outlaws (2-1)-----This should be another good one. (Wow, lots of great games this week!) Again, similarities abound. Incredibly, Houston’s rushing/Passing ypg are 61.7/155 while Las Vegas’s are 62.2/154.2—a difference in total yds allowed of 0.3 yds after 3 games!!! Both teams have very good QBs [Richard Lobb (HOU) and Jason Starks (LV)] and HBs [Ricky Danner (LV) and Wickey (don’t call me Ricky?) Woods (HOU)], but Danner is the standout, leading the league with 440.5 yds highlighted by a 251 yd, 3 TD Performance against (who else?) Richmond. For that reason, I’m giving Las Vegas the edge here, but this should be yet ANOTHER good one!........LAS VEGAS-17 HOUSTON-14

(1) GAME OF THE WEEK: Niagara Rapids (3-0) at Lincoln Freedom Warriors (3-0)-----I was taken to the woodshed by Lincoln for “overlooking” them, and I deserved it. Last week I showed no confidence in them by Picking Las Vegas to beat them and the Freedom Warriors responded by drop-kicking the Outlaws 36-12. So I’ve learned my lesson, right? Not quite. This week the Freedom Warriors get Niagara, the same Niagara that was the #1 team in the Conference last year and continues to roll this season. Sorry Lincolnites---against anyone else I’d Pick you, but this time I’ve got to go with the Rapids. Great talent. Great coaching. Great winning tradition. A rock solid defense that hasn’t allowed a TD yet this year. Heck, they’ve even got hot cheerleaders (check out their awesome website)!..….NIAGARA-24 LINCOLN-13.

There you have it. Another week’s worth of Pointless Predictions from the Purple Penguins! Let the games begin!!!

BTW picking a win over Saginaw? I think i just got some lockerroom material. And if i remember right we knocked you off last year when you were 6-1? I smell an upset

Hey, I think Atlanta was the only playoff team we managed to beat... meaning we were 1-7 against playoff teams, and 7-1 against non playoff teams. Does that make us a bad good team or a good bad team?

You guys did indeed send us skidding on a 3 game losing streak last year. That's why I think our team will be hyperfocused on this game---it's PAYBACK time!!! LOL
