Why is it labeled as being a main attribute for a blitzing LB? Is it really that important?

It's not that important, it's cool and helps your player, but Speed, Agi, Str, Vis, TKL are still more important.

The reason it is a minor is to make people think about how they build rather than just following the major stats to the perfect cookie cutter rusher.

the thing is though, is that it's not labeled as a minor...it's labeled as a major. gold star means major attribute, correct?

yeah, thats correct... but that still doesnt mean its important it would be important for any coverage you are in coverage, but if you are going for primarily a blitzer, then you can pretty much ignore it for the most part. it might turn some hurries into sacks (there has been some debate on this, so take it for what its worth.) but speed and agility (to a point) will probbaly turn more hurries into sacks than jumping will.

you will attempt more tackles/sacks with higher jumping.

I meant to say major there, my bad.

I think it mostly affects the success rate of diving tackles, but not so much the radius or amount of attempts. Tackling does more to increase the radius afaik.

Jumping works wonders for getting more sacks.

great for pass deflections. after getting jumping up i'm getting more passes deflected when i am blitzing. apparently i just put a paw up and swat passes down that way.

Jumping helps with INTs as well. My blitzer is only 22 so I am ignoring jumping for the most part and hanging around 33 while I focus on speed and agility. He did run back a 97 yd pick 6 a few games ago so maybe blitzers are all purpose DBs when they aren't blitzing. Speed and agility for sure until you hit your goal and let ALGs take over. Then go back and work either vision or jumping with tackling depending on what works for you.

There is a reason swat ball is in the pass rusher tree for LB's and the containment tree for DE's.
They presume that if you are pressuring the QB and have decent jumping you can get some PD's at the line and mid blitz once your dot has penetrated the pocket.

Or at least that is my guess.

I think every LB should have at least jumping 1 capped regardless of their designed duties.

I like capped jumping on DEs, let alone LBs . . .

Ball Hawk has a Jumping 40 requirement, still doesnt mean it is good or necessary for a blitzing LB. And ALGs will get you there eventually. I think there are a couple other VAs with a jumping requirement, but i dont fully remember.
