If we want to have any chance of fixing the shuffle this past off season we need to come up with a clear solution.

Saying "fix this" isn't enough. You need to say "fix this, and this is how you fix it". Saying "this should never happen" isn't enough. You need to say "this should never happen, and this is why". Basically, don't just lay out the problem. Lay out the problem with potential solutions. If you do that, it's much more likely that we can resolve an issue.


Some ideas: (feel free to shoot them down)
1. Completely random
2. 8 for 8 east-west swap in each league
3. Formula based on roster size or wins or something else
4. Selection committee of peewee owners
5. Leave teams where they are
6. Using a GM script such as http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3991178

Select a commitee of pee wee owners to organize the teams staying, then randomly have the rest of the incoming silver teams assigned to leagues.

There's no way they let us pick who goes where, IMO.

Well, they won't, but it seems like DrkSandman has let us help with the seeding of the official tourney, why not make the leagues too?
And it can't be that hard for the mods to check over...

It has to be an automatic way for it to be done. No way the offseason gets delayed while a committee sits around talking about which teams go where.

I say a pure random reshuffle each season.

I know some people like the rivalries that being in the same league produce, but I see a different problem. Those Silver teams that are always middle of the road and never really have a chance at Gold wont want to play the same teams and loose to them season after season. Plus what happens when there is a really strong league with 3+ Gold level teams in one division? Will take some of those teams a while to get to Gold when they probably deserve it sooner. A constant reshuffle helps against those and keeps things interesting each season. This game can get old, especially when you play the same teams season after season, so a complete reshuffle every season breathes something fresh into a stagnate league.

To be honest, I wish they did that with Gold, shuffle the remaining teams each season, then add the new ones. Would make each season something totally new and more exciting.

The random reshuffle is the easiest and most 'fair'. Considering it's also the easiest to implement and that Bort has already fucked up PW beyond recognition (anyone else notice the drastic increase in teams that are saying goodbye in the last two seasons?) it's reasonable to assume that this is one option that could actually work.

Once again, Vrecksler is spot on. It's a shame that Bort continues to abuse the best part of this game.

Pee Wee Silver needs a completely random reshuffle this off-season. I'd like to see a good promotion system in place after that. Bort said he changed this season's promotions to keep Copper league rivalries, so I'm not sure he'd like a random reshuffle every season.

Pee Wee Silver NEEDS a random reshuffle at the end of this season none of the other options, 2 to 6, will fix the problems that Bort caused.

I've been trying to get some good ideas together in a private forum, but I've let it die because I got busy with RL and the extra workload from being in Gold.

One idea I liked was to cut Silver to 4 leagues and either make Copper 12 leagues(1-4-12) or add a 4 league level between S and C(1-4-4-8). If this were to happen then teams would need to be placed into the 4 league Silver based on S16 wins. Some old Silver teams are going to get screwed over because they are playing in a stacked conference, but I can't see any way around that. Maybe make the 1st tie-breaker based on a teams age (i.e. 30 teams might finish 8-8, the older teams go into the new Silver first).

If Silver stays at 8 leagues, then random reshuffle is the way to go

Random Reshuffle of all teams would be ideal or at least a random reshuffle of each league to break up the disparity of this seasons new to silver and returning to silver in some leagues.

What about this idea?

Use the a GM script as suggest to reset all the teams. The top 32 go to Gold. The next 32 go to Silver 1 and so on until all the teams are placed. Place the teams into conferences by snaking through the rankings. For example; top ranked go to one conference, 2nd and 3rd ranked would go to the other conference. Then 4th and 5th would be placed in the first conference and so on. This process would place all the teams.

The next question would be how to realign each season. I suggest to take the 8 teams that reach the quarter-finals in the playoffs and move them up one level and take the bottom 4 teams in each conference and move them down. This process would ensure that the best teams get to compete against one another from season to season.
