In an effort to jazz up our league forum, I hereby Present the PURPLE PENGUIN PROGNOSTICATION for the Eastern Conference (I really have no dea what's going on out west....we Penguins are kinda geographically challenged).
Please don't take these Predictions Personally. It's just a little thing to get People Posting. Feel free to agree or disagree as you see fit.
I'm not sure if this is going to be a regular thing or not, but tonight I feel like doing it, so what the hell. If someone wants to take a stab at the Western Conference, that would be cool.
EASTERN CONFERENCE
(8) Richmond Empire (0-2) at Niagara Rapids (2-0)-----OK, starting off with an easy one. Niagara has consistently been a Powerhouse in the East, losing only 1 game last regular season and the Conference Championship. Richmond hasn't won a coin toss that I can tell and have been outscored in 2 games thus far 136-0.......NIAGARA-90 RICHMOND-0
(7) Baton Rouge Bayou Bengals (0-2) at Saginaw Spirit (0-2)-----I don't know what's up with the Spirit. Before the season, they looked like one of the stronger teams in the Conference, but they've stumbled out of the gate, losing to Las Vegas and Niagara. Baton Rouge is struggling mightily to overcome the loss of its owner but still has very good talent and two tough losses to teams that were in the thick of the Playoff hunt last year. Neither team has scored a touchdown thus far. It's a tough call, but I can't see the Bengals scoring much against the tough Saginaw defense with only a single Level 11 and 2 Level 8 WRs on their roster. I'm sure Baton Rouge is working diligently to remedy that situation, but it Probably won't be in time for this game.......SAGINAW-27 BATON ROUGE-6
(6) Cleveland Buckeyes (1-1) at Red Bank Thundercats (0-2)-----Cleveland rebounded from a rocky introduction to BBB #7 in week one with a solid win over a talented South Bend team. However, Cleveland does have some trouble with turnovers, though, with 7 fumbles (although they lost only one) and 2 INTs. Red Bank, OTOH, followed their tough loss from week one by getting shellacked by Lousiville. I'm going to have to give it to Cleveland, but those turnovers are going to cause Problems sooner or later if they don't stop.......CLEVELAND-26 RED BANK-17
(5) South Bend ShamRockers (0-2) at The State of Texas Domination (1-1)-----South Bend looked to be vastly improved on its Preseason roster, but the new acquisitions have yet to bear fruit. The tough Texas team hit a bump in the road against the Atlanta Purple Penguins but will be looking to rebound with a balanced attack that can be effective running or Passing. I don't know when South Bend's new roster is going to Pay dividends, but they are cursed with a horrendously brutal early season schedule that may decimate morale. Texas isn't going to make things any easier.......TEXAS-34 SOUTH BEND-14
(4) Jax Beach Juggernauts (0-2) at Louisville Baby Kittens (2-0)-----Louisville is a well coached team that always seems to get a LOT more out of its Players than would be expected based on their alleged Level. A very strong Playoff team from last year, they've Pounded their opposition thus far this season, scoring more than 40 Pts Per game. This week, more of the same.......LOUISVILLE-49 JAX BEACH-10
(3) Houston Armageddon (1-1) at Charlotte Panthers (2-0)-----Houston squeaked into the Playoffs as the #8 qualifier last year and finds itself in 8th Place again, but could easily have beaten the Lincoln Freedom Warriors last week had they not lost a critical fumble with 2:03 left that turned the ball over while they were in borderline FG range. The subsequent Punt by Lincoln cost Houston over 30 yds in field Position that they couldn't make up before the final gun. Charlotte has been a Pleasant surprise this year, starting off 2-0, but it's a 2-0 record against two teams that were in the lower half of the league last year and haven't won a game between them thus far this season. Taking a look at the rosters, I'm going to have to go with the Papa John's School of Predictions--Better ingredients, Better...well, you know....... HOUSTON-35 CHARLOTTE-14
(2) Appalachian Lycans (1-1) at Atlanta Purple Penguins (2-0)-----The Lycans boast an awesomely talented lineup, to the Point that I have no idea how Niagara beat them (but I'm sure trying to figure it out!). With 5--count 'em FIVE--starters at Level 20 or more, this is the year for Appalachian to move up---with no stadium upgrade, they may have trouble competing for free agents this coming off season as revenue may be tight. The Penguins have more consistent talent across the lineup, but it may not be enough. Still, one of the nice things about these Predictions is there are absolutely no repercussions to getting them wrong, so I can Pick with my heart, not my head, if I choose to. I choose to.......ATLANTA-20 APPALACHIAN 16
(1) Lincoln Freedom Warriors (2-0) at Las Vegas Outlaws (2-0)-----The Game of the Week as two undefeateds (yeah yeah, I know it's only week 2) go at it. Las Vegas is for real, putting a hurting on both Saginaw and Richmond, but the Freedom Warriors will be a much sterner test. Lincoln Pummeled Richmond as well but barely squeaked by Houston. Somehow, I don't see them doing that to Las Vegas. I think Sin City trumps Husker Nation this time around despite Lincoln's fantastic CB duo.....LAS VEGAS-34 LINCOLN-14
OK, so there you have it. Week 3 Predictions from the Peerless Purple Penguin Prognosticator. These Predictions are Purely speculative and have no scientific or logical basis whatsoever. Your feedback (in the Forums, Please don't bomb my PM box) is welcome. Have at it, guys!
