Is it wise to choose a archetype VA the same as one you already have? Let's say I already have a "first step" through AE, should choose that as my custom or choose a different one? What's the benefits of choosing one you already have, if any?

Do you mean VA or SA? If you mean bonus SA, you shouldn't choose one you already have, it's 100% pointless (well, unless we can pay less for end-of-tree SAs)

Sorry, if meant SA. I was thinking that since you were able to choose a extra SA in choosing a archetype that the extra one would be tag to the player and have more impact then you already had it and chose another. Okay, even that didn't make sense to me.

Example:

If i already had a first step AE, it would still work fine and I would choose let's say "super vision". Super vision is tagged as the extra and it would impact more as it relates to the player because of the archetype stuff.

No, it's just another SA you can choose.

i suppost it would depend...i have a k/p returner lvl32 that i already had 2 pieces w/ RS and with the archtype i picked it also..being a return guy ..now it only cost me 4 SP to get it to 10..... and i can boost it up when i find another aeq to combo it w/....but also how benificial is that SA in turn ove rthe long run...remember you only pick the extra SA once......??

If it is an SA that you have AEQ in that isn't already in your tree then definitely a good idea to pick it up if it is a good SA.

You can spend 6 SPs to bring up your bonus SA to 4 and use the AEQ upgrades to get it the rest of the way. Definitely a useful strategy if you don't want to be forced to stack AEQ pieces.
