What!?!? Rangers at 9, Voodoo at 14, and a whole lot of other bizarre crap. Hope this is a formula again.

I think I will go case in point with Catamounts vs. Voodoo. I mean no disrespect to the Catamounts, but they aren't even close to the Voodoo, let alone several spots better than them.

If I may, I'd like to try and determine to some degree your criteria for these rankings.

The post above implies that on the field performance this year is the most important factor.
-- The Voodoo lost by 16, the Catamounts lost by 24 to fairly even teams (even by your "rankings" the Voodoo had a tougher opponent)

Performance last year?
-- The Voodoo made it to the West's Championship game (knocking off the 2 and 3 seeds to do it), the Catamounts didn't make the playoffs.

Roster?
-- The two teams' starters have similar levels, but the Voodoo have substantially more depth, especially on defense (just look at the level difference between the starter and 1st backup on defense for each of these teams)

Chemistry?
-- The Voodoo have MUCH better chemistry than the Catamounts

I can't name anything else that should come into play.

Then just as a kicker, who are the Catamounts nearly as good as? The Rangers!?!

It's nothing personal Jerry, but I would really like you to share at least somewhat what your criteria are. If these are solely opinions of how good you think the teams are, that's great, I would like to hear them even, but label them as such. Please don't pass off opinion as a deep formula.

How would you rate the teams Rick?

Personally, I think some of the teams that won should be lower than 8 and some that lost should be higher. the team we beat I think is top 4, not #9 for instance.

Rangers are actually #1 in my formula, so I expect them to rise quickly after a few victories.

Performance last season is completely meaningless to my rankings.

I actually forgot to include Chemistry, thanks for reminding me about it. I'll have to see how I'll work that in.

I don't take it personally. Without feedback, I wouldn't be able to refine my formula. See Intoxx if you want an opinion, I'm using cold numbers. By the way, I personally love reading Intoxx's posts, they are extremely entertaining and insightful; and a great deal of effort on his part with no personal reward.

I sense there's a lot of disbelief because of the Voodoo ranking. However, I've crunched these numbers twice and they are currently not a top 8 team. Obviously, they have roster moves and boosts which would change this, but that's not where their roster is now.

{edit}
Voodoo are now a Top 8 team.

I thank you. I plan on finishing the things today, although it wouldn't be preseason anymore!

Better late than never intoxxx. Thanks to everyone who puts these things out. They are definitely not something you have to do, but they do add to the game...

I will say that my team the Gamblers are probably too high on the rankings list. We ahve some things to iron out before we get to be that high.

Thanks for putting these together as said above

I'll put my rankings up as soon as I get to it. It should be today sometime.

These aren't based off any formulas or anything, this is just what I think of the teams and how I think they will finish.

1. Missouri Partisan Rangers (I don't really like how it was done, and I may be a bit biased being that we just lost to them, but I don't think you'll find those starters anywhere else in the league.)
2. North By Gawd Texas Tornado Humpers
3. New Brunswick Sentinels (I think it's just about a coin toss between the Vendetta and us, but I'm giving us the nod here)
4. Rochester Vendetta
5. New Orleans Voodoo
6. Round Rock 12th Man (I'm not sold on their defense, but they're performing so far)
7. Las Vegas Heat (Vastly improved from last year)
8. Houston Gamblers
9. Olympia Dollar Ninety Nines (I'm happy to see the team name spelled properly now)
10. Double T Red Raiders (This was the last team I put in, so I think they're quite average)
11. East Coast Catamounts (Roster is drastically improved, but they aren't performing so far)
12. Cincinnati Stallions (Tough schedule so far)
13. D.C. Sonics
14. Jaraguá Breakers (I wish I could see the rest of your site, the login looks nice)
15. Los Angeles Majors
16. Miranda Reavers (I know you guys have been having a tough time, but congrats on the win today.)

Differences between our ranks:
9 -- Voodoo
8 -- Rangers
7
6 -- Breakers
5
4 -- Gamblers, 99s, Red Raiders, Sentinels, Heat
3 -- 12th Man
2 -- Vendetta
1 -- Humpers, Catamounts
0 -- Stallions, Sonics, Majors, Reavers

We agree pretty well towards the bottom, but otherwise, not so much. Again, if you don't mind sharing Jerry, I'd be curious to hear your criteria.

I dunno about the rangers being in first, they have a massive flaw in that they don't bother with depth. I'm wondering if they're playing with energy lower than 100 going into games. Definitely a good team, but one with a glaring weakness that can be exploited with the right gameplan.

IMO, the top 4 are Humpers, Us, Rangers, Sentinels, but I do see a possible flaw I can use against you =)

Anyways, this is a a WAG (Wild ass guess).
