With the first round of games under our belt, let's see what's in store for Round II.

Round II_____________________________________________________________________________

#1 Queensland Exiles (17-0) • vs • #5 Winnipeg Warriors (12-5)

My prediction for Queensland's first round game was a 55-6 victory over the Windsor Walruses. Well, the Exiles did extend their winning streak to 37 games...but only managed a 34-9 beating in the process. Meanwhile, Winnipeg fared much better than my predicted 34-13 loss to the Kansas City Gorillas. The Warriors produced the lone upset in Round One, a narrow 26-24 victory capped off by a Richard Stell touchdown with just 30 seconds remaining. They intercepted Ricky Hurle's last ditch pass attempt to seal the victory following the kickoff...great win, Warriors! Alas, Winnipeg's exciting playoff run ends when they face the top-seeded Exiles. Queensland Exiles - 38, Winnipeg Warriors - 20

#2 Saskatoon Silverbacks (15-2) • vs • #3 Moose Jaw Roughriders (15-2)

As expected, Saskatoon took care of business against a very good, but outmatched Thunder Bay Wolverines team. I predicted a final score of 30-19 in favor of the Silverbacks, and they bested that prediction with a final score of 43-14. The Demitrius Finster led Moose Jaw Roughriders failed to put up the 52 points predicted by redrayer28, but then the Salty Dogs also proved that they didn't throw the contest against Nebraska in the final week...they too failed to put up the 20 points predicted by redrayder28. It was a tough season for St. John's whose chemistry finally broke 90 for the first time this season, but a back-breaking 94.5-yard fumble return shifted the momentum Moose Jaw's way early in that contest. Judging from the history between the Silverbacks and Roughriders • http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3839914&page=1#34113870 • we're in for a good game. The series is tied at three games a piece, but Saskatoon has taken the last two meetings. It should also be noted that each team has eliminated the other from the playoffs before as well. Which way will the pendulum of momentum swing in this one? Saskatoon Silverbacks - 17, Moose Jaw Roughriders - 23

'Backs vs. Snorks err....Roughriders should be stellar again.

That is as long as we do our part. MJ will do theirs. This is the best version of their team yet.

Repredictions based on round 1 and the upset.

#1 Queensland Exiles (17-0) • vs • #5 Winnipeg Warriors (12-5)

Queensland best performance to date: 69-13 over Winnipeg
Queensland worst performance to date: 31-26 W over Silverbacks, outgained by ~250 yards.

Winnipeg best performance to date: 31-26 over Silverbacks
Winnipeg worst performance to date: 15-58 loss to Salty Dogs

Queensland managed only a 174 yard differential in playoff game1.
MJ, Silverbacks, and Arrowhead hope it's a sign of slipping;
Queensland hope it's getting the bad game out of the system.
Let's give credit to the Walruses too, who played their best game of the season.

Winnipeg won vs KC despite some crazy end-of game AI by both teams.
Down 3 with 1:15 remaining, Winnipeg RUNS the ball 3 times, almost running out the time.
Then they get this little flare (which KC play didn't cover or didn't play a prevent) for 64 yards and that basically wins the game.
Still, credit to Winnipeg and their D: they held mighty KC to 334 yards.

Previewing this game, Queensland's strengths (running game) go into Winnipeg's weaknesses (run D).
That's the key matchup and the matchup that Winnipeg has to at least stalemate. The other key matchup -
Queensland DL vs. Winnipeg OL also favors queensland. I think if Winnipeg wins the game
it'll be through the passing game, queensland is too strong up the middle.

But it's a bad matchup for Winnipeg, I think.

Dimmy Finster thinks Winnipeg is about as likely to win as Britney Spears really understanding semiconductor physics
http://britneyspears.ac/lasers.htm

Queensland 40 Winnipeg 17

#2 Saskatoon Silverbacks (15-2) • vs • #3 Moose Jaw Roughriders (15-2)

Silverbacks best performance to date: 23-7 demolition of Moose Jaw
Silverbacks worst performance to date: 26-31 loss to Winnipeg, hangover the next week.

MJ best performance to date: 27-6 over KC, 10-44 loss to Valhalla
MJ worst performance to date: 7-23 destruction at the hands of Silverbacks

Besides the rivalry, this is kind of a classic matchup: talent vs. coaching.
I think MJ is a somewhat more talented team than Silverbacks. But the Silverbacks
win because they have superior coaching.

Compared to last season, the Silverbacks have developed a nice power rushing
game with Rowdy Alstott. Despite losing their stud RB Royal Williams they're
even STRONGER at RB this season. They've increased their
depth along the DL (weakness last season) and pretty much everywhere.
They did lose all-star FF'er LB Junior Koa, but this is the strongest team they've had -
both in absolute terms and in relative terms. They do have a few guys
in decline, but it hasn't hurt them yet.

Trying to predict what Silverbacks will run offensively is an exercise in futility.
You're just wasting time. As Thunder Bay can tell you (because they scouted Silverbacks),
Silverbacks O will change it up every game. Better off spending limited scouting time trying
to find a hole in the Silverbacks D. Moose Jaw hasn't
done a good job of that lately either.

Except for ~3 players, Moose Jaw is pretty much the same team that lost last season,
and the same team that got pasted in the middle of the season. Moose Jaw
has a good D, but haven't scored on the Silverbacks in two games now.
Sometimes, the matchup is just bad, either coaching or talent.

Predicting this game is like who do you marry: Natalie Portman or Hayden Panietierre?
Sure, Hayden is in the same ballpark in looks and all, but pretty much everybody
picks the Harvard-educated brains in Natalie. So we go with the brains in the Silverbacks.

Silverbacks 30 Moose Jaw 10

Portman's main problem is that she thinks she is smarter than she actually is.

She thinks she has a political voice, but all she does is echo Democrat party talking points.

I would take Hayden over Natalie for sure. She's a bit of a midget, but at least she's down to earth and doesn't pretend to be smarter than she really is.

Oh I didn't realize Sask lost that LB who beat us last year! We might have a chance without one guy causing 4 fumbles.

Man it was hard for me to let Koa go. That dude was a rock in the middle of our D for so long but never got much recognition because he wasn't a stat machine. It was awesome to see him play such a pivotal role in our magical championship run...he wanted it bad.

Oh, and Portman's biggest problem (and only real one IMO) is that she's a vegetarian.

There's three kinds of people in this world that I don't trust...those who don't eat meat are one of 'em.

I could care less what a person chooses to eat. That is why we are omnivores.

My problem with her is that she's a snotty little brat who spouts politics as if she's the golden girl.

Too, I was once dead set on being a psychology major....until I realized all psych majors are completely insane.

Knowing she majored in a field that I do not trust, from a school I do not care for, coupled with the fact Portman isn't even her real name, that little whorebot can go suck it.

Apologies to my Moose Jaw brethren.

Tonight was excruciatingly long, and I totally failed at accomplishing my gameplanning for Sask.

And when I thought I was taking my aunt home, she thought I was going to stay the night. We celebrated St. Patty's Day, which was one of my uncle's biggest holidays. Apparently his parents even took him out of school for it when he was growing up. We had our corned beef and cabbage dinner, but my aunt needed a friend. My uncle passed a couple months ago, and it's just changed everything in the family. When I realized how much she just needed me to sit around and talk and be her friend, I couldn't back out. I also did not get my homework done, which is going to force me into having a private chat with my teacher. It all really sucks. I'd love to do the things I want (GLB) and the things I need (school) but I have to do what's most important (family). I never understood how important family was until they started passing and leaving the rest of us alone to put together the pieces.

What I am really getting to is that: If Moose Jaw loses, it truly doesn't matter to me. And if we win, so what? I hope we win. It'll be a sigh of relief because it feels like we've lost to Sask 10 times in a row.

I made some adjustments to the offensive AI with ricksta's and Tom's help.

If the Silverbacks beat us (yet again!) we got beaten by the better team, no excuses.

To me, Natalie Portman's biggest problems (second and third to vegetarianism) are that she smokes
and dates dirty grimy dudes.

Still, most pick her over Hayden.

I think i have to side with Portman; mainly because the age difference with Hayden ventures into old man creepy..
