With the first round of games under our belt, let's see what's in store for Round II.
Round II_____________________________________________________________________________
#1 Queensland Exiles (17-0) • vs • #5 Winnipeg Warriors (12-5)
My prediction for Queensland's first round game was a 55-6 victory over the Windsor Walruses. Well, the Exiles did extend their winning streak to 37 games...but only managed a 34-9 beating in the process. Meanwhile, Winnipeg fared much better than my predicted 34-13 loss to the Kansas City Gorillas. The Warriors produced the lone upset in Round One, a narrow 26-24 victory capped off by a Richard Stell touchdown with just 30 seconds remaining. They intercepted Ricky Hurle's last ditch pass attempt to seal the victory following the kickoff...great win, Warriors! Alas, Winnipeg's exciting playoff run ends when they face the top-seeded Exiles. Queensland Exiles - 38, Winnipeg Warriors - 20
#2 Saskatoon Silverbacks (15-2) • vs • #3 Moose Jaw Roughriders (15-2)
As expected, Saskatoon took care of business against a very good, but outmatched Thunder Bay Wolverines team. I predicted a final score of 30-19 in favor of the Silverbacks, and they bested that prediction with a final score of 43-14. The Demitrius Finster led Moose Jaw Roughriders failed to put up the 52 points predicted by redrayer28, but then the Salty Dogs also proved that they didn't throw the contest against Nebraska in the final week...they too failed to put up the 20 points predicted by redrayder28. It was a tough season for St. John's whose chemistry finally broke 90 for the first time this season, but a back-breaking 94.5-yard fumble return shifted the momentum Moose Jaw's way early in that contest. Judging from the history between the Silverbacks and Roughriders • http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3839914&page=1#34113870 • we're in for a good game. The series is tied at three games a piece, but Saskatoon has taken the last two meetings. It should also be noted that each team has eliminated the other from the playoffs before as well. Which way will the pendulum of momentum swing in this one? Saskatoon Silverbacks - 17, Moose Jaw Roughriders - 23
