Here is the current build:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1911237

My team owner would like me to "slow build" , and I am cool with that. My understanding of this process is that you wait until you get enough points to "soft-cap" a particular attribute, while training intensely on said attribute then switching to another attribute and repeating the process. Is my understanding of this technique fundamentally correct?

As stated, I would like to build him into a pass-rushing DT. I currently have 21 SP, I will also level up in the next 2 games as well for an additional 5 SP. I also have all 3 boosts available, and do plan to use them. Also have 8 bonus tokens, usually I use them to boost for a game, but I understand I can go shopping with them as well. What is the most effective application of bonus tokens?

At this point, I will be able to "soft-cap" my agility soon and was going to do just that, but thought that I should perhaps come to a resource (this forum) and ask some questions and solicit as much help as possible before I do irreparable damage or get too far along with a less-than-effective build.

I am really interested in the Greater General Wisdom of the Defensive Tackle specific forum, and would appreciate any thoughts, comments, critiques and advice anyone would like to impart.

TIA

for any DT strength needs to be #1. You can get strength and agility to 77 by level 30, I would go that route. Always intense train and accumulate your BTs, AEQ is the difference maker in later levels and you should accumulate as many as possible and then shop for a good piece around level 35-40. Don't bother shopping for AEQ in low levels unless you just want something real quick to trade in later. But do not temp boost, you will regret it.

Is strength still #1 for a pass-rushing DT though? I thought I had read that AGI was #1 in this instance...kinda like building a LDE. TBH, I have read alot of things that go in different directions, so I don't know what to believe.

Good bit of advice on the BT's, thank you.

Yes Strength is #1 for DT. Should take it to at least 77 before switching to agility. Save sp till you can soft cap strength at 49 while intense training strength and tackling. Once you have 1st capped strength start intense training agility and tackling.

If you go with agility 1st you will get pancaked all day long.

Heres my 2 cents. The difference between a 105 AGI DT and a 90 AGI DT might be 10-15 hurries a year. You are not going to get consistent sacks in any sort of competitive league. You can get shit tons of hurries by proximity to the QB or a STR build can blow up the C or RG of the line and cause an instant hurry situation when the QB sees an open lane for the NT or DT. STR to 8-1 cap then AGI to 7-1 cap. I had a 100 STR 100 AGI build with 8 in FS, 35 hurries in a CPU blowout - 0 hurries the entire rest of the year. I said screw it, cashed out 100+ BTs and dropped them all into STR. Same shit, less pancakes. Absolutely average at 115 STR 91 AGI

I have a similar 100 str 100 agility first step DT that is doing jack squat this year.

My advice on the "new" pass rushing DT would be:

build a traditional NT build, strength to 77, agility to 77, but to make him a pass rushing DT and not an NT, put his CEQ in the Pass Rusher tree, find AEQ that is break block% and/or shed blocks, and after boosting agility only take tackling to 48 or 60 cap then pour everything else into speed.

Wow, great stuff guys. Very appreciated. I will adjust my build strat accordingly.

my NT has his SPD at 70 and can't turn his 54.611.654.656 hurries into sacks - which is okay, since he is playing NT and not DT. he sometimes occupies three blockers so he is absolutely doing his job.
So if you're going for a passrusher/sack: SPD to 80+ (somehow)

Yeah, I was figuring on 80+ speed being necessary.

Thanks for the input, fellas.

I'm targeting 115 STR, 115 AGI, and 80+ speed with plenty of CE in break block % and Shed Block. I agree with getting STR and AGI up first because they get the biggest autolevel gains, but I'd then get Tackling up to whatever you want before speed because Tackling gets bigger autolevel gains. I'd just keep training speed before putting any SPs into it until you can take it all the way to the top.

Been trying 100 str, 110 agi, 100 spd and tbh, this is the most fun version to watch. At least he gets in on more plays thanks to speed. High agi or str were just plain pointless to watch on replays.

Don't make a pass rushing DT is my advice. Yes, flame away. Yet DT's are terrible at pass rushing even if built for it. They are much better if they are made to stop the run, and more beneficial to the team.
