Much like the season opener from last year, the San Jose Chupacabra’s first game was turned by a point after attempt.

Although this year, it went the wrong way.

San Jose fell 18-15 to the Florida Bulls in overtime after San Jose pulled even on a dramatic last minute TD pass from Remo Rankin to Snatch McGillicutty. Players were already celebrating when kicker Bob Forstrom lined up for his extra point attempt to ice the game.

“The kick looked good of my foot. It was a good snap, a good hold and I made good contact. But the wind just caught it wrong,” said Forstrom, stunned after the game.

The winds had gusted all day at Raymond James Stadium but they had played in favour of the Chupacabra, hindering Florida’s passing game and contributing to at least one of the four interceptions on the day thrown by the Bulls.

The game was full of unusual events, including the missed PAT and an uncharacteristic safety given by up by San Jose in the first half. But the Chupacabra battled back from a 15-6 4th quarter deficit and tied the game in the last minute.

The overtime lasted until the final minute, with the teams battling back and forth over midfield. Finally, Bulls kicker hammer leg connected from 35 yards out to ice the game.

“It’s a rough way to start the season but we ain’t sweatin’ it. This team is hungry for the playoffs son and we gonna treat the rest of the league like appetizers.”, said linebacker Demetrius McQueen, “South Otto? Dead men…. That’s all it is.”

“My foot is gonna be travellin’ North on South Otto’s ass.”

Yeah with 41 seconds left in the game that TD pass was magic. The Safety and missed PAT....not so much

Our D came through for us on the running game, Cedric Blovell had 9 tackels 8 for a loss and a saftey, LB Brian Bell had 14 tackles 1 FF.

but we have to give it up to TE Scott Plizair for sticking in there 110 plays, wow! he is going to spend the next entire day in the ice tank...
