Texan's Week 5 Picks
Current Record: 57-7
Tune in and turn up the sounds of SEAPL 80s love song week...you can feel the love can't you?
Naga
NBA Jam (4-0) v Bali Insurrection (1-3)
NBA is looking like a real contender this season and if they can stop spending all their time dropping lines on the Laker girls there could be "Winds of Change" in Naga. Meanwhile, Bali is hoping to pull an upset here so that their playoff hopes are not just "Shattered Dreams". I like the fight and defense Bali showed last game out but I do think NBA just has too much dot. NBA 37, Bali 7.
Monks (4-0) v PPW (0-4)
The Voom parade continues this week as he yells with his usual tact that PPW "Ain't Nobody". The Monks say PPW will have to "Wait" until next season for a W. Monks 190, PPW 3.
Saigon (4-0) v Thai (2-2)
Thai has pulled themselves back up by their bootstraps to .500, while rellascout was quoted as saying they're "Up Where We Belong". Saigon is having none of it, with stout saying "Say Hello Wave Goodbye" to that .500 mark. If Thai has really gotten it together early this season, Saigon could be in for a challenge, but it's hard to tell as of yet. Saigon 45, Thai 20.
SLS (4-0) v Mekong (1-3)
Red alert time for Mekong, they need to start winning or start seeing themselves out of the playoff picture. We all know Mekong and Winona were "Secret Lovers", so maybe they miss the warriors? SLS has just been outstanding thus far this season and I think they'll show Mekong they're a legit pro team while enjoying "Home Sweet Home". SLS 37, Mekong 17.
Tibet (3-1) v Mutant Smurfs (2-2)
After a nice start, the smurfs are in a rough patch in their nasty Naga schedule. Tibet has really come on strong since losing to a great Tet team and that is definitely "True". The smurfs would definitely "Cherish" a W over Tibet, but I think they are a season away from that. Tibet 38, Smurfs 17.
PDP (2-2) v SCSK (2-2)
Maybe the most even-looking matchup of the week, but with two teams on different ends of the momentum spectrum like a "Bizarre Love Triangle". PDP is hoping to prove their turnaround, but who knows? I think this one goes down to the wire as the two teams go "Round and Round". PDP 23, SCSK 21.
Bacolod (1-3) v HKH (1-3)
Which team stays relevant early in the season? Bacolod says that the playoffs are "Always On My Mind", but HKH says hey bastiges, "I Drove All Night" to get here for the W. Judging by their one common opponent this should be a very even game, but ofc that is always a flawed type of analysis. I think HKH is probably a little bit better right now, but who knows. HKH 20, Bacolod 13.
CMM (0-4) v Rumrunners (0-4)
Someone is about to pick up their first W of the season, giving one team "Something to believe in". Which team will be thinking "Love Bites" and which team gets a spark? Should actually be a pretty good game imo, but I think the CMM offense has some horsepower left. CMM 49, Rumrunners 35.
garuda
Bangalore (4-0) v Sweatshop (1-3)
I think the Sweatshop is much better than their record indicates, but I think Bangalore is just plain good. The Sweatshop is "Wishin' on a Star" for victory here, but Bangalore is planning to "Move Closer" to a playoff home game. I would not be surprised if this one is close, but probably too much dot advantage. Bangalore 38, Sweatshop 30.
Krungthep (4-0) v Danang (2-2)
Danang has made a fine showing thus far and they certainly are a real pro team now but are they "Headed for a Heartbreak" this game? While Danang does get to come "Home again" this time out I don't think it will help against that WL type firepower of the Garudas. Krungthep 48, Danang 16.
Tet (4-0) v MMJ (0-4)
When discussing the best teams in SEAPL Tet says hey, "How 'bout us"? I doubt MMJ would have much to say in return other than "If you were here tonight", you'd probably beat us again. Tet 115, MMJ 3.
LSP (4-0) v Lucid (2-2)
Lucid seems to have turned the corner after their last impressive victory and are having "Sweet Dreams" of the playoffs. LSP says hey, "Don't stop Believin'", even after we beat you. I believe that LSP is a stronger team at this point, but look for that Lucid playoff run. LSP 37, Lucid 20.
Buffalo (3-1) v Ottawa (1-3)
The Beavs are definitely not enjoying their own conference thus far and the schedule does them no favors here and are definitely feeling like their "Wanted dead or alive", preferably dead. Buffalo is looking good again but can they get "High Enough" to win it all? Not sure about that but they can almost definitely get high enough to win this game. Buffalo 45, Ottawa 14.
Lampang (3-1) v BKK (2-2)
Vets and new guys collide here. BKK is talking like they'll win this, but Lampang says it will take "More than words" on the field. BKK just says, hey "Sweet Child O'Mine", sit back and watch how the old guys roll. Despite BKK's horrendous beating at the hands of Krungthep, I think they recover here and show they don't give up. BKK 30, Lampang 27.
Singapore (1-3) v Dharma (CPU)
Hey, the Canes are about to be on a win streak! Dharma will be feeling that "November Rain" as the Canes put them in a "House of Pain". Singapore 255, Dharma 0.
RSR (1-3) v Sydney (1-3)
Sydney knew that "Every Rose has Its Thorn", but didn't expect to get pricked by Singapore. RSR is hoping to put the vestiges of Sydney's playoff hopes in "Silent Lucidity" and I think they're probably the stronger team here. RSR 35, Sydney 17.
