what are the 3 best for a SS?

Zone Specialist, Ball Hawk, Football Genius imo.
but, there are better ones if you are a "hard-hitter" though.

Hard hitter: Power tackler, helmet crash, DvG, Jackhammer
I also speculate that clutch would be good for a hard hitter given the high reliance on SA and FFum rolls succeeding.

Power Tackler, Sure Tackler, and...#3 is a toss up. DvG is a good one, but then again, so is Clutch.

I see tons of safeties with 0 ff and full va in Jackhammer and/or Power Tackler. They are a waste if you do not force fumbles in the first place, play with wrap-up tackles and generally mainly do coverage. DvG seems like a good 3rd choice once you get into uncapped and if your SS is used for run support. Otherwise I'd say Football Genius.

Jackhammer is about knocking the ball loose right when the WR/HB/FB catches the ball and preventing them from maintaining control and completing the catch.

I realise my post was not worded well, but obviously jackhammer does not force fumbles. It is however still a waste imo to use on a coverage SS as he won't have proper base stats to knock balls loose anyway.

It's all or nothing.
0-4 fumbles a season doesn't justify taking power tackling VAs.
Edit for clarity: jackhammer has nothing to do with power tackling, but it is suited to a power tackler.
So true. It's unreal how many guys waste VAs on power tackler (LBs and Dline too) only to force 1-4 a season which considering how random FFs are, could be because of dumb luck too. Tons of SSs and LBs without that VA force 1-4 a season too

I think those accidental fumbles have more to do with the specific carrier experiencing a morale spiral - just right place right time.
