I've read the general advice for defensive lineman topic.

But from what I hear, the strategy keeps changing based on changes to the sim (and the player creation method is different!), so I'm not sure how much of that is currently applicable.

For a pass-rushing DE:
1) what is the best height/weight ratio? (Logic tells me not to make him insanely tall because the bonus to jumping and vision is probably worthless...)

2) The guide emphasizes the importance of starting out by choosing either SPEED or AGILITY and softcapping it. Why do I see so many agents softcapping strength first? Is this is the new best strategy?

Thank you in advance!

You are going to want to take strength up to the 77 cap right off the bat for long term success. Long gone are the days you can get away with anything less than 90 strength in the higher levels. You'd do wonders with him against cpu teams and in the lower caps, but after the OT's catch up it's game over. Strength>Agility>Speed>Tackling>Vision imo.

As far as height and weight go, i'd try for shorter and fatter. Just makes more sense I guess.

Bort has already said although height and weight play a role in the rolls, but the differences are negligible. As for building DE, to me it doesn't matter where you start (agi, spd, str) as long as your end product is the same (90+ agi, 90+ spd, and 80+ str) by the time you get to lvl 40+
