Forum > Pee Wee Leagues > Differences going from Copper to Silver?

S12 was my first as a Pee-Wee owner/coach and some how, I was able to pull a championship out of my arse, and with a 40-man roster to boot.

Because of that, I got bumped up to Silver for S13 and am in one of the hardest conferences in all of Silver, that being Silver #7 West.

Copper was easy to figure out...

On Offense:
Run 99% of the time.
Get a running QB and use the rollout often.
Get a fast HB and run a lot of sweep and pitches.
Get a powerful HB and run some inside plays and always go for it on 4th and short.

On Defense:
Don't worry about defending against the pass until later in the season, and minimally then.
Stop the QB rollouts.
Stop the HB sweeps and pitches.

I am just wondering what some of the tactical differences I should expect to see going from Copper to Silver?

You will have to game plan more though nothing near as much as Gold. Probably need a 45 man roster this season as well.

actually in season 11, copper league 5 was decent, 5 14-2 teams, 3 rushing QBs, and my team had the best rushing QB's. Expect to see better builds, 55man rosters, and better offense/defense.

My roster is a full 55-man this season..

I always game plan well, and will expect more game planning from the other side compared to Copper.

I was more wondering stuff like...
Does Silver pass more?
Does Silver run their QB's as often?
Does Silver focus on outside running as much?
Does Silver stick like to change things up a lot, or really focus on specific tactics?
To what extent does Silver game plan, meaning will I have to mix things up to hide what I really like to do?

Any info would be great!

Silver is a lot like Copper, moreso than people think. The difference is when you play a good Silver team. They tend to exhibit the same tendencies as a Gold team. They'll have a swarming defense, so all of those QB rushes will get crushed a ton of the time. Their ST units are good, and they'll have equal or better builds all over the field. In most Silver leagues, a quality team could probably run basic OAI and DAI for all but about 5 games and still get a good playoff seed. By contrast, the DSBM got to take 1 game off last season in Gold.

Don't know if that helps or not, but that's my opinion.

There are five games that matter if you are any good in Silver. In Gold, there aren't any that don't matter until you are out of playoffs for sure.

It depends on what League you end up in. There will still be CPU teams, just not nearly as much as in Copper. And like others have said, there are some really tough Silver teams that just missed out on going Gold, so you will have to plan accordingly for those games. Don't expect a 16-0 record this time around.

Far from it, I will be happy if I make the playoffs...

you'll go close to making it coz you want it enough ...how far you go in the playoffs depends on what you learn through the regular season and how well balanced your team is with builds ...coz this is your first season in silver, I would assume that it would take at least another season before you get your act together ...especially coz that league has some eager teams itching for gold status!

Copper ---> Good teams should go 18-2 or 20-0, but should still win.
Silver ---> Good teams should make final eight, might not win division.
Gold ---> Good teams might still be around in Gold next season.

Copper ---> Elite teams should go 20-0 and not have any games where they win by less than 21
Silver ---> Eiite teams should go 14-2 through 16-0 and should get a trophy for sure
Gold ---> Elite teams should go 8-8 or better and will make the first round of playoffs

That is the reality of Pee Wee imo.

my team hasn't lost a game in 2 regular seasons, and still hasn't won a conference/league trophy in Silver 8>_>

There's Silver Leagues with 2 good teams and there's silver leagues with like 5. There's still some inequity involved with the initial team distribution. Hopefully, leagues like 4, 7, and 8 get some scrubs promoted from copper so the backlog of good teams get a chance to promote.
