Hello,

I am looking for some opinions on building the best Tight End possible for GLB, for catching the ball, and hopefully optimizing YAC, and exploiting what seems to be weak pass coverage on the Tight End.

During late Season 2, I decided I'd start on this build..Optimally, I'm thinking I need alot of speed (to break open into the 2nd level quickly), vision (to catch the ball, and continue the run quickly), and of course some catching and agility.

But is there anything else? Should be be a "power" receiver, and have insane strength, so he can pancake defenders on non-pass plays, as well as break tackles on the pass?

Here are his stats:

Strength: 13 Blocking: 15
Speed: 12.65 Tackling: 10.67
Agility: 18.28 Throwing: 8
Jumping: 9 Catching: 18
Stamina: 10.67 Carrying: 10.67
Vision: 15 Kicking: 10
Confidence: 10.67 Punting: 9

He's level 5 right now...I have 35SP to spend yet, and I might wait awhile to spend them. Ultimately, I am thinking of spending all of my SP on one specific skill (TE with 65 speed, would that be a huge advantage, or no?).

Suggestions are welcome...As I have tons of SP that are unused.

You need more than just speed to be a good TE. Most the time they are in a crowd. They need to be able to jump and catch. It is also important to be agile enough to get open. TE builds are tricky but if done right they can be a valuable weapon.

i'm thinking about making a TE that has insane strength, since it will help bowl over defenders when i am blocking and after i catch the ball. i obviously wouldn't have bad speed, agility, or vision either though. that sounds like it could be unstoppable if done right.

Here's my lvl 12 TE:

He's been one of the top receivers on the team and seems to have really shined the last couple of levels.

I'm convinced that agility is secondary to speed with these guys. I've also been reluctantly training jumping the last couple of weeks, but it seems to have paid off.

I probably put few too many points into special abilities but it should even out over the next level or two.

I may have pumped up stamina a little too much, but I was fighting for play time. Now he gets more plays than any of the receivers.

Am I to assume that's what your build has?

No, My build is pretty messed up. Should be fixed though in 6 levels or so. I would do things differently next time.

Should TEs have more agility then speed? I was thinking of making a build like 50 strength, 50 agility, 40 speed.

Agility helps with your cuts and route running.. Gets you open.. your Special Abilities will add some points into speed and agility throughout the season.. Route run.. Lower shoulder technique is good.. but if you don't got the speed to out run people you could fumble With some safeties or LB with insane strength and tackling...

How much carrying will make you not fumble when being hit by a high strength SS or LB? 30?

If you can, I would change blocking equipment over to speed if possible, then get your agility around 25, I'd say. That should put you at a well balanced TE I believe. My TE is similar, but with 38 speed and 24 agility. 5 TD's in 9 career games.

lower 20's in the upper lvl's.. like lvl 12 and up having a "cover up" SA ability helps this out... Just train it.. Core skills are the most important

Don't go crazy with the SA skills.. Core skills are the most important for starting out

I'd like a tE with really high strenght agi and a bit lower catching with some good run route. Then Speed and Vision as secondary skills. I think it would be good.
