Day 40 AFTER Daily XP has been assigned. If you login at midnight and create, they will gain XP. wait a few hours.

Nahh. the "Day XX" is probably just calculating the day based on the actual day. Nightly Maintenance doesn't happen instantaneously and also doesn't start right at 12:01am. It's an hour or so later.
