Some punters are luckier than others, or perhaps you figured out the punter X Factor. Who knows?

If your offense goes 3 and out alot, that would allow you to get your average distance up.

I used to think that too. But, it's not the truth.

Its the truth if you have Leg of Steel and even more true because you arent kicking from the OPP 40. Your best kicks are only going to go 39 yards and you'll likely have a few 19 yard touchbacks driving your numbers down.

These are the keys to getting a good punting average.

1. Having a good build in general.

2. Punting style - 100% Distant

3. You have a strong K on your team and the OC will go for the 50+ yard FG attempts. This eliminates the punting from inside the 40 yard line.

4. Having a large number of punts from the "sweet zone".
The sweet zone" is in the following area:
For higher level / good punters: From your own 35 to Mid field.
For Medium level / avg. punters: From you own 40 to Opp 45.
For lower level (at least 24) punters: From own 45 to Opp 40.

The sweet zone is where you will get the highest average. This is because it will often trigger the "go for the coffin corner punt". Once your punter has high enough attributes in Punting / Vision / Confidence and Nitc VA. You will very often go for the coffin corner kick from the "sweet zone"

The way the coffin corner punt is coded is not like "real" football. Instead of shortening the punt, GLB will lengthen the punt and will punt the ball out of bounds around the 15 yard line to 0 yard line.

If you want to go with the cheesy strats to lengthen your average you can do this:

1. Leg of Steel - for the really bad teams.
2. Big Heart - for the bad teams, make sure you add some points to stamina if you are going to punt over 10 times per game.
3. Streaky - 78% chance of good days / 22% chance of bad days.

I dont see any points looking for stats of a punter, if you want to brag with stats build other position player. Punter is the one palyer in this game that should be willing to sacrifice for the team - i.e. motivational speaker is for punters etc. And yes billthekill said it, goo dstats for punters come out of bad teams. So I am happy if my punter doesnt punt any punts in a game, as usually offense is scoring then, not always thou.

Punters are weapons. Completely disregard the previous quote. I have a punter who has always been on a top team and has been in the top 5 league punters every season.

That sweet zone description nails it on the head.

Just do this a few dozen times a season and you'll be fine: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=936923&pbp_id=13373281

Also, the thought that you can only have a good average on a bad team is bunk (as previously mentioned). You can have a very high average on a very good team, however, there is a lot of truth to the thought that you need to have a good kicker is VERY true. To really have a good average your team has to attempt to kick any FGs inside of 60 yards.

Other than that, playing opponents with slow PRers helps because you get the bounce when you are coffin kicking and having good coverage lets you crank it up to 100 distance without a worry about them running it back down your throat if they do get a hold of it.
