Ill probably get flamed for questioning this play, but its just rediculous IMO.

How this SS pancakes my blocking TE w/ 50 Strength and 28 blocking, and then is able to catch this WR w. over 60 speed is a little rediculous.

Did he pancake or did he just fall down.. Because if the TE could or did block, I would flag for a hold.. Ths SS is fast and the WR probably has low Agility.. JMO..

um he pancaked the TE and made the right angle to get the WR. What's so hard to understand? It was a diving tackle also.

The WR may have 60+ speed but he OBVIOUSLY has low agility which is obvious considering how slow he was taking off. Agility helps your acceleration. The SS probably has more agility which helped in the cutting across the field.

It was a failed cut block IMO.

Do you have to be a dick about EVERYTHING? The dude is asking a simple question and you act like an ass.

I agree with the second part, but here's something to add that I saw somewhere: Before the WR catches the ball he does a check. He has two options: Focus on catching the ball (bonus to catching), but this lowers his acceleration/speed. OR He focuses more on speed (bonus to speed/agility) but has a higher chance of dropping the ball. This is more than likely is what is happening.

I'll try to find the thread.

Agility is more important than strength in pass blocking. Also I'm guessing your TE was set to run blocking, which is why I have a TE set to pass blocking in on some passing downs, so he's going to lose that battle.

I'm guessing that the SS build is something like 69+ speed, 40+ agility, 20+ vision.
I'm guessing that the TE build is something like 40 speed, 20 or less agility, 20 or less vision.

If you don't think it is possible to have stats like that at level 8, youaredoingitwrong.

If that's his build, he is right on target.. Tackle and jumping at 20 also..

It's a common sense thing. The way he came out asking the question made it like the WR was half way down the field and the SS still caught him. That's what I was thinking when I clicked the link. The SS was maybe 15 yards to the right of the WR, not all that much of a distance if you think of it. It's a game of angles when you're playing defense.

Your explanation was correct to the point. By the way, you may not remember me, but this is laxdawg from season 4

Looking at i'm more curious as to how no one got a hurry on that pass when like 5 people were pretty much sitting on the QB

I didnt really come out asking the question like that at all...i was just so damn frustrated that we outplayed the shit of that team n lost, and if he breaks that one play, we probably win...the fact he caught the ball was pretty lucky, but it looked like we had the blocks set up for a big play, and he has been our big play WR this year...it just seemed like too beast of a play to me by that SS, but the game wasnt won or lost on that single play...thanks to those who offered constructive responses
