A little Dot ball talk

Surprise team Positive

Mayan Prophecy-Off two a very impressive start in the their WL debut. I think too many people underrated them off of their title game blow out loss to Manus in Season 11, but behind their impressive Defensive effort they are looking like a real title contender.

Surprise team Negative

Louisiana Screaming Pelicans-From making it to the second round of the world league playoffs one season to a 1-7 start is a major fall. The Pelicans have been in a few of their losses but for the most part it has been pretty down on the bayou in season 12.

Top Offensive Player

Duke Nuke'em-It took a while for Manitoba to figure out the WL but Duke has led the way for them. He has over 1,300 combined yards and has been a beast in the running and passing game.

Top Defensive Player

Jimmy Johnston-The Defending Defensive player of the year in his conference leads the league in Sacks and Forced fumbles and is among the leaders in hurries. JJ is still a beast and is still 25 days away from the decline.

Best Team

New Jersey Blaze and Lincoln Navigators. The New Teams Up from USA PRO are rolling through the world league. Both teams have stacked and balanced O's and Solid Defenses. These two are going to be real tough to knock off come play-off time.

Mid-season Playoff Predictions

ALPHA

1. Lincoln
2. Monmouth
3. Haliback
4. Mayan
5. Shockers
6. Singapore
7. Korb
8. Marblehead

ZETA

1. New Jersey
2. TKW
3. Bonn
4.Drinkin
5.HHW
6. MPHD
7. Santiago
8. OTRRD

Right now 5 are basically a lock to make it. I know OTRRD is a reach, but they do have a ton of talent and if they can pull off the upset in the TKW game I think they have a shot at the 8 seed.

They have losses vs Dakar and Manitoba already, they really ought to focus on Santiago and Manus so they have a little tie-breaker leverage at least.
Beating 3KW looks to be a stretch.

Duke Nukem? What? He has 10 total td's and only 4 are rushing...thats a shot in the dark at best.

I think there's some better choices out there:

5 sacks on screen plays against BFM and 5 sacks on a DPC zone blitz against LSP isn't overally impressive to me. (those 2 games also acount for 18 tackles, 4 FF, and 5 hurries). Throw in the fact that he only has 3 TFLs on the season and he looks like a pass-rush specialist that has only really had an impact in 2 games against the (currently) worst 2 teams in Alpha.

I haven't looked at everyone out there, but at a quick glance these 2 players stats are much more impressive to me.
-Keen Robert Earl (LB) has 74 tackles, 5 sacks, 4 TFL, 18 PD, and 2 Ints.
-Haufa Gurugatuppa (DE) has has 27 tackles, 12 hurries, 2 sacks, 15 TFLS, 1 PD, and 1 FF

I had to face Duke Nukem for a couple of seasons on the road through Canada AAA and CPL. The guy is nothing short of deadly. One of the very best backs GLB has ever seen.....and very very underrated to say the least.

im not saying hes not...just saying hes not the offensive MVP nor is he the best HB out there by any means right now on a team sitting at 4-4 as it is.

Award wasn't for scoring the most TD's it was for the best Offensive player and Duke has had a hell of a season so far

He is sitting on a team where he is 1 of 2 HB's. The other HB gets about a 5th of the touches for the offense. Still...Duke is only 3rd in rushing yards and has only 4 tds. He has been able to acquire 42 receptions for them yet isnt even in the top 20 in receiving yards.

I dont know...i guess im just not caught up on who gets the most touches as being the MVP. Especially when his team is 4-4.

Then you have a guy like Orangeblood who has 12 more carries. 19 more rushing tds, more ypc, more yards, and plays for a 5-4 team. That comparison alone changes my opinion on whose the better candidate for MVP...and thats only at HB alone.
