Magnificent B-Tards vs Cape Verde Jacks (43-14) Spread: 29
Charlesburgh Black Iron Dragons vs Niagara Maulers (24-18) Spread: 6
Queen City Black Cats vs Memphis Rage (23-13) Spread: 10Game of the Week
Village Dogs vs Providence Radicals (27-22) Spread: 5
Cobden Muskrats vs The B-Tard Sons of Doug Flutie (42-14) Spread: 28

Yellowknife Rented Mules vs Kingston Poopsters (26-13) Spread: 13
Halifax Hashishim vs Hillsburgh Hillbillies (68-25) Spread: 43

► The Memphis Rage held the current #2 seed, Yellowknife Rented Mules, to just a field goal two games ago and walked away with a 6-3 victory. A similar win against the Black Cats would be shocking, but Queen City is coming off of its worst offensive output of the season - a defeat of their own by just three points at the hands of the Village Dogs. ◄

St. John's Salty Dogs vs Thunder Bay Bloodhounds (35-25) Spread: 10
Kansas City Rams vs Hornepayne Northern Railers (80-17) Spread: 63
Red River Rebellion vs Windsor Walruses (45-43) Spread: 2

Thunder Bay Mules vs Nebraska Husker Maniacs (35-14) Spread: 21
Kansas City Gorillas vs North Delta Huskies (23-15) Spread: 8

► The Tadoussac Whalers and Manitoba Aftershocks are both projected to finish with 14-2 records and the Whalers would own the tiebreaker in this scenario by virture of a head-to-head win against Manitoba. As it stands now the Aftershocks only loss came to the current #1 seeded Kansas City Rams - a game they lost by a final score of 18-31. Tadoussac has a pair of losses already, one out of conference (Providence Radicals) and a similar one to the Rams - by a final score of 17-42. All indications point to this being a close game, but my gut says to go against the projector and take Manitoba in this one. ◄

Here it was, Week 7, and the projector went just 5-3 in the Eastern Conference. The Village Dogs, Magnificent B-Tards, and Memphis Rage all pulled off "upsets." Meanwhile, the projector went a perfect 8-for-8 in the West, none closer than the Kansas City Gorillas vs. Thunder Bay Mules.

I hope both of those happen, because it sure doesn't look very promising right now. I just can't seem to get things rolling for us.

I think we've all been where you're at. Our first season in CPL (Season 10) followed a 15-1 regular season in Canada AAA #2. We won our first ever game in CPL (Thanks, CONN CHRIS!) before dropping our next two. We went 4-4 in our first eight games...the worst such stretch in our team's history. That was until we went 1-7 over the final eight games to finish the Season at 5-11. Season 11 looked like we were picking up where we left off in Season 10...an 0-4 start and a 3-5 record at the half-way point. We won seven out of eight in the middle of the season before dropping the final two games in heartbreaking fashion. Our 8-8 finish had us in a 3-way tiebreaker for the final two playoff spots. We drew the short straw and missed the playoffs. Very few teams enjoy immediate success when making the jump from AAA to Pro...no doubt the Hashishim & Rebellion will both fare better next season than their early showings this season.

I've suffered through these "kind of seasons" before with teams I coordinate for, and they're harder to manage than the work it takes to win because you're still putting in the work it takes to win plus the work it takes to overcome the morale spiral and agent/player frustration. Your income looks like shit (and will continue to look like shit into the next season), so you've got to better plan EQ, and I can go on and on.

I really, really want to blame our early season matchups because we faced the four teams that managed to come through the offseason with nearly complete chem (excluding Winnipeg) while we were in the low 80's. Those hard losses have now hit the player morale, so it's like having low chem even though we really don't. And we all know what chem can do to your turnover ratio. Ouch!

I say I want to say that, but I can't in good conscious do that because I don't want to sound like a whiney bitch and act like those teams wouldn't have whooped our asses anyway. They probably would have. In all honesty, the Rebellion began to fray from within over the offseason - and that's my fault.

My promise to CPL is that I'm gonna screw up someones Play Off ceding. I guarantee that. I'm gonna kick Northern's ass. Why? Just because. I owe it to them Some team left on our schedule - maybe two - is really gonna want a piece of us come S13 because of what we did to them in S12.

You can put that in your pipe and smoke it. Then pass it back and let me have some, too
