Personally I think strength is the key. If you are a blocking FB you need to focus on some blocking but I personally think FB's shouldn't be focused on locking up a defender for too long. They should just need enough speed to get out ahead of their RB and hit that first defender and provide the RB just a little bit of time for the RB to run right by. Strength is important so you can try to pancake that defender with the first hit and so your FB can be used in short yardage situations. You need to make sure that your FB is at least as fast as the RB otherwise the RB will pass you up and you can't block for him.

I could be all wrong though. Thoughts?

Yeah i was thinking of that. I see lots of big, but slow FB. Do they lead block correctly or are they behind the play? On inside or outside run.

Would you guys sign a FB, that is decent, but not great at blocking, enough to just take away the defender for a little while. That would be quite fast and agile to keep up on the outside rush and that could catch the ball decently. A bit of a tE build, but for a FB. Prolly with some good strenght strenght as well, but maybe not as well.

Lert's say a, Agility, Speed, Catching Vision FB with secondary skills as Strenght and Blocking, in that order.

How good or bad is it?

Stamina and Strength, and keep an eye on Confidence if he keeps dropping passes and/or fumbling.

I have a Fb with....

Strength:29.5 Blocking:26.52
Speed:22.02 Tackling:11.4
Agility:22.37 Throwing:8
Jumping:11 Catching:11.4
Stamina:21.23 Carrying:19.5
Vision:19.19 Kicking:10
Confidence:12.4 Punting:7

Is there anything that needs attention. I think I have a fairly good build and I have had pretty good success in both rushing with 7 tds in my rookie season and our rbs have been doing good so i hope that means that means I am doing good blocking. I am thinking about training some speed to help keep up with the rb though.

I agree 100%. Strength is the most important attribute for a FB. He needs it to block and run. He often runs without a blocker or a weak-blocking HB and it can be tough to get through the LOS scrimmage without it.
