I'd like to know this more in-depth as well. I plan on making a strength WR, and using my vet points on Brusier so I can tear through CBs. But I would like to know how successful Brusier truly is.

building for breaking tackles as a WR works just fine, but use the other tackle breaking VAs to do it

Slippery is better than bruiser for a WR. You just need a lot of carrying and some points in Spin, and go with +51 for running style.

Slippery + YAC Attack.

I have used Bruiser and Tenacious. As well as YAC Attack.

The thing is, the only argument the can be made for slippery>bruiser is that bruiser doesn't work past 8 yards downfield. Simply put, the effect of running style on a non-fake WR is negligable. You are gonna be tackled right after you catch the ball regardless, the vast majority of time. And when you are not immediately tackled, you certainly aren't gonna get past defenders any moreso on -51 (power) than on 51 (elusive) without fakes (which a tackle breaking WR doesn't have).

Furthermore, your WR simply WILL NOT break tackles when he's not in the YAC ATTACK firing range. Right when WRs catch the ball they are often greatly slowed down and are immediately tackled after the catch. That lack of momentum basically makes it impossible to break tackles without a huge boost to your break tackle roll. Simply put, you will almost never break a tackle downfield even with slippery.

So what it comes down to, is that 2 yards (from 8 to 10 yards) worth getting only 66% of your possible break tackle boost? Imho the answer is no, as most of the short routes are gonna put you under 8 yards regardless.

As such, YAC ATTACK+BRUISER is a win and is better than the same pair with slippery. Its just for some reason all these WR's are scared that bruiser will make them a powerback or some garbage, and thus that they need to be on elusive route running.

You get bruiser+yac, and have say 2-capped+ str/car, along with an OC who knows what he's doing and enough agi/catch to catch balls and you'll beast it up.

Well, for my WR power-receiver's running style, I have it 75 power, 25 elusive. Is that a bad setting?

Depends on other things. How high is str/carry? How high is agility and speed? How many of the elusive SA's do you have?

After I posted the original question, I came back and deleted it as I got to thinking that this Bruiser was really for a running back
and I didn't want to appear more stupid than I already am....duhhhh.

I ended up dumped the 14 points into Slippery.
Then I think I'll start dropping points there and next season will definitely fill it up
DEPENDING on forum discussion as to it's value.

You can't use Slippery and Bruiser, if that was what you were getting at.

Slippery requires 51 or higher on slider bar
Bruiser requires -51 or lower on slider bar

If you are heavy on the elusive SAs/agil, my sense is that you're better off going slippery + YAC attack (+ Quick Feet, if you aren't using the VPs elsewhere). Set your running on +51, and let'er rip. Bruiser seems like it would be better paired with some of the power RB SAs.

My guy has 50 strength and could use Bruiser, but instead I just dumped 14
into slippery instead.

Since I wrote the most, you should have listened to me imo.

Depends on build, IMO.

I'm going to agree that for almost everybody, Bruiser>Slippery. Not only does it do everything you talked about but it also gets your momentum moving forward much quicker than slippery. More momentum=more broken tackles, which may actually be more valuable than the 15% difference.

Extreme builds would benefit from slippery though if they have no problem breaking first tackles with just YAC.
