For those of you new to EEPL, I keep track of the scores on a spreadsheet used widely in GLB, and after a few weeks of input data, it spits out some predictions. It is not always the most accurate, especially early in the season, but gets pretty good later in the season.

One thing that screws it up is gutted teams, and so we may be doomed from the start with the Wheatfield gut. That said, if nothing else, it always serves as a pretty good conversation starter.

There is no personal bias on these picks. I simply cut and paste the output. Here are the numbers for week 5:

Alpha Conference

Alexandrovsk Conquerors vs Sevastopol Seamen (81-44) Spread: 37
Arkadak Arsenal vs Mukachevo Coyotes (24-13) Spread: 11
Blackburn Carnage vs Minsk Ninjas (26-22) Spread: 4
Dallas Smoke stacks vs Bruges Biaviians (36-22) Spread: 14
Minsk Mullet Mafia vs The Hague Hustlers (20-20) Spread: 0
Sparta Battle Chickens vs Buda Pests (20-12) Spread: 8
Tyrrhenian Sea Wasps vs Vilnius Iron Wolves (31-25) Spread: 6
Warsaw Wrath vs Vladivostok Voodoo (59-39) Spread: 20

Zeta Conference

Black Sea Buccaneers vs Emmaus Fighting Green Hornets (77-6) Spread: 71
Odessa Mojo vs C-Town Hoodlums (48-23) Spread: 25
Omaha Spider Pigs vs Estonian Wife Carriers (25-14) Spread: 11
Philadelphia Demonik vs Tallinn Tigers (42-9) Spread: 33
Rome Raiders vs The Wheatfield (66-0) Spread: 66
Stalingrad Gryphon Army vs Buffalo WarZone (36-14) Spread: 22
Stuttgart Blitzkrieg vs Portland Niners (74-14) Spread: 60
The Cape Town Cubicles vs Russian Revolution (44-13) Spread: 31

thanks for taking the time to do this, love seeing rankings one of the main reasons I come to the forums!

although, I will say I think something did get screwed up this week. You have my team winning which just isn't going to happen, not this week.

These are always fun this early. Russians are 31pt underdogs! I'm betting the farm on that one

Here is a start to the conversation...the rankings suck. No chance we are predicted to win this game, especially by 2 possessions. Hell the pre-season rankings for us had us 15. Me thinks you need to re-do whatever program does these rankings!!!!

I'll admit, I'm happy with our play, but what about Buda? They aren't playing sloppy and have some awesome builds...I just don't see us winning, especially by 2 possessions...

+1, I agree with woods.

We of course are hoping to win. But come on, Buda should be favored by 8 and Buda will probably win by even more than that. Buda is a great team.

The lack of comprehension in GLB never ceases to stun me.

I can read Buda's forums. Their gameplans consists of tossing lawn dots at Veg and "if we can score more than the other team we can win this"

Smoke and mirrors! Buda too high

I would have expected a 1 or 2 point game either way. I think part of the problem is that you are the only team in alpha that played the gutted Wheatfield. When a team guts, I need to set all their scores the same. I tried 80-0 last season, but that still seemed to inflate things, esp early. So this season I went to 50-0. Since you have that big win, it may have jumped things a few points.

But it is what it is (I hate that saying). I put the numbers in and you guys see what it spits out.

Is there no way to do it without counting any of the games against gutted teams?
