I know i have to be patient with my DE. My goal is to make the Pros
but plays like this make me wonder, if he isnt speedy enough now, will he ever be?

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=858428&pbp_id=3652702

speed is at 79, agility at 106, strength at 45, first step at 4, shed blocks at 4.
i realize it isnt an amazing build but still. Everyone says that you need alot more agility in pros so i decided to make him agility based, and due to minor financial restrains i havent changed his equip around.

what are your thoughts. mine are that it basically is an argument about how much speed vs agility i will need

You could probably add a little speed, but you should really be okay there. I've heard good reviews of "tunnel vision" for increasing sacks, but I have no first-hand observations to back that up.

A lot of sacks vs hurries, IMO, come from the defense AI, and how your coordinator matches you up on the line in conjuncture with blitzers. If he puts your guy outside the tackle, or blitzes a LB that will double-team the blocker, your odds go up.

If QB is loaded up on quick release and set to aggressive throw away, there are time there is almost nothing you can do to get a sack. I have a DT with 90 speed and there are still times he is too slow to get to the QB when he shoots the LG/C gap.

I am a big beliver in Tunnel Vision.

This might sound crazy, but when I took jumping to 40, I saw higher sack results. Maybe from diving tackles?

A few things that you probably missed.

1) Tunnel Vision, don't neglect this, this is the true holy grail for any sack conscious DEs.

2) Jumping, don't neglect this. This significantly increases your sack radius

3) Speed - mid 80s is a good stopping point, not high 70s

4) At the end, if the QB is set to quick release there's nothing much you can do.

thanks for opinion guys. what ive been hearing is that with AEQ and when i wanna add SAs (after strength) shed blocks is #1, break block % is #2 and tunnel vision is #3, but you guys seem to be liking tunnel vision. i havent found a piece of TV AEQ yet but when i do i will get rid of my first step piece

also i have heard about the jumping. my jumping and stamina are at 15 so i will be training those two soon, maybe right away?

TV, FS, and Shed Block all need to be 11 at high levels. You don't really have to get rid of FS.

QBs, even crap ones, get rid of the ball absurdly fast (and 'blind side' doesn't exist). 11 TV, 9 Blitz, 11 First Step, 106 speed, 90 agility isn't enough to get sacks right now, even if you blow by the LT.

Hmmm My build is close to this but more speed and does well and looking at your guy he seems to do quite well. One of the better stat producin DE I have seen season to season.

Also, the one thing everyone else neglected, MAX OUT JTS.

What's your vision at? You got a pretty slow start off the snap (looked like you first moved on 4th tick), so increased vision + JTS would help with that. I probably wouldn't put points into vision yet at the expense of agility, speed, or strength, but that's something you should include in your future build plan.

I was talking about this season specifically. While it is great that hurries accomplish something now, sacks are somehow harder to get (even though Bort 'Moved pass blocking advantage a little more torwards defender').

just wondering? could weight have anything to do with it? my guy is 277, at the time i created him i knew little about hte game and didnt roll for size. ppl talk about weight as an "X factor" just wondering if that could be something to do with it

I don't think weight has much to do with it. The difference between 277 and 250 is probably 1% or so on speed at most.

You do need more speed in the long run though, even as an agility DE. Probably 90+ at the pro level.
