If you don't have the speed to stay in front of your HB then being a blocking FB does you no good

Using speed on a FB early sorta kills your build, unless you only intend to be a great build in low caps and decent build later.

but if you suck early then who is going to want you when your level 30 with 20 speed?

If you don't get on it early then you won't have the 80+ speed it takes to be an effective blocker later in the FBs career

There is zero long term benefit to doing speed early in a FBs career.

otoh there's no reason not to put all your non custom eq into speed at that level either.
