Just trying to see if this is a good build going or should I re-direct my focus on something else. I am trying to go to the speed agilty route with my guy for pass rushing. He has no sacks, but I attribute this to being in a league where I am easily outleveled.

Better work in one attribute at a time, don't spread SP. Try to get to the cap ASAP. I would retire this one and start over. Roll a high agility guy, train speed/agility until you can softcap agility, and assign SP to agility all your first season to make a pass rusher.

I agree dont spread your sp it decreases the effectiveness of training by a lot.
here is my season one DT

when I boost I will have 32 sp to spend soft capping agility so I will have soft capped two attributes in a season.
When you roll, roll until you get a guy with 20+ agility and decently heavy 300+lbs
also dont put points into SA so early just a waste of sp at low lvls

I guess I will retire at the end of the season then.... kinda crappy feeling. I figured intense training both speed and agility were the way to go.

Intense training isnt bad. here is how I do it. Get a good roll for a DT 20+ agility and I like 10+ str with a 300+lbs guy. Then get on a cpu team for at least 1 season. now buy all the normal eq and put it all in stamina (this will get you good game play time without wasting sp and training). Next train intense in the attribute you want the most and the best you can see tht goes with it. TRAIN no sp until you train enough with enough sp saved to get to the first cap at 48. Then you spend all your sp in the ability tht can be capped. Then you move on to what you deem as next most important.
Hope this helps

That does help quite a bit actually. Is speed and agility the best way to go with a DT for pass rushing or should I spend my time focusing on strength for brute force.

I like DTs to be around 80 speed 90 str and 100+ agi at the peak of their careers but tht is just my personal preferance. I only just learned how to get those kind of numbers outlined above.
Agility is the main import to get to the QB if you want to stop the run not as important
