That. Pick one, focus now. Don't try to balance until later in your career, if at all.

I agree, I personally would suggest building a blocker first as they are in higher demand. Later in the build you can add speed. And finally, you can add the ability to carry any maybe catch.

Sadly, its almost as if you have to choose any 2 from the following:

1) Blocking
2) Rushing
3) Receiving


And at the highest levels, you can choose only 1.

I would build a blocker first. Then a fast blocker. Finally work on his catching and carrying. Basically I am already working on this myself. Who knows how the sims may change. This may be a bad idea in the future but for now it makes the most sense. Right now the sims do not favor a FB that cannot block first. HBs catch the ball well enough and the OOP for HB to FB is not bad. I would not sign a FB that cannot block as of now.

Here is what I would do. Keep in mind I have built a FB but never tried this idea.

Roll a 6'5 220 lb FB with high agility and 8's in the unused skills.

Train agility/blocking till you can cap agility
Train blocking/strength while taking agility to 68 (level 9)
Train blocking/strength till you can cap blocking (level 13)
Train strength/carrying while taking blocking to 61 (level 17)
Train strength/carrying until you can cap strength (level 21)
Train speed/stamina while taking strength to 74 (level 37)
Train vision/confidence while taking speed to 68 (level 47)
Train catching/carrying while capping vision (level 50)
Train catching/carrying while capping confidence (Level 53)
Train jumping/catching while capping carrying or double capping it.
Train jumping/catching forever Maybe cap stamina

Split your eq between speed and agility aim for 90/90

Search for quick cut, cover up, or lead block AE.

This is very long term and such a build would rock in the current sim since the scatback VA helps a lot and I have seen HBs and FBs make catches with low catching. I think the high agility will help you in blocking and catching. The catching part will not come till late in the build but he will be useful all his career imo.

Not true, I'm offensive/balanced build. I can handle my own blocking, I'm just not as good as a blocking build... I just have slightly less speed/agility/blocking and no outside blocker. I have slightly less speed and agility because I use most of my EQ on strength to help break tackles.

I would take a dedicated blocking fb with outside blocker every time over a balanced one without. I am sure the majority would agree with me.

You underestimate the value of a balanced FB... I don't disagree though, the majority of people lack insight to utilize a balanced FB. A blocking build FB has a place, but if you open your mind you might see the value in a balanced FB. Teams game-plan to stop my FB in SAPL and I'm pretty much a balanced build (58 blocking and 2-4-2-3-4 blocking tree). I don't have outside blocker... yet I'm used to block on wildcat runs, I also back-up the blocking FB... plus I gain ~100 yards a game offensively for my team.

Maybe I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about though...

SAPL is one of the more competitive pro leagues, so not sure wtf your point is... USAPL is more competitive, but SAPL is not like the least competitive pro league or anything.

I'd be embarrassed to have a balanced build FB do that to my teams.

See where you fail in this argument is your assumption that you can only have either a blocking FB or a balanced FB. My FB can block just fine, he might not be quite as good as a blocking build, but a blocking build cannot come anywhere close to my offensive production... having two blocking builds on the same team is awesome though, it's not redundant at all...

DId you happen to investigate the other teams I gm? Or did you just pick on those 2?

Only active duties I have are split time OC on OFG and OC on Adult Swim. Last check, both teams are doing well. You can pm Hulk and set up a scrimmage with OFG if you want. (I will make sure I OC that game) We can see how well your FB destroys us.....

You can also see a real blocking FB in action as well.

I picked the SAPL teams on the GM list, because you're the one who implied that SAPL sucks. I'm not the one who has anything to prove TBPH, my FB gets results against some of the better teams in all of GLB...

You see, my FB adds an entire new dimension to SOAP. Teams can game-plan to shut down any single player at this level of the game, but they cannot shut down an entire backfield... this is primarily possible because SOAP has an offensive threat at the FB position (running and catching). We do also have a blocking build FB, so there's no fucking point in me taking outside blocker because I rarely have to block (a single blocking FB rarely if ever needs me to rest him). I'm sorry that you fail to understand how having an offensive threat at the FB position can make an entire offense better... it's even worse that you're an OC... you fucking fail completely at it, if you think FBs should only block.

Teams can try to stop my FB (outside runs), but in those games, our change of pace back and power HB usually have a good performance.
