I'd say it is, though perhaps it isn't. So many people blindly credit some of their successes to the field general SA simply because they have it imo...

My QB for instance played his entire career with 3 or less in field general. In that time he had a large number of extremely successful years, including leading USAPro West in passing both S9 and S10. His entire career he played in Pro or AAA, fwiw.

So.... Are you all really all that confident that a natural 10 in field general is worth 49 SP, which is 10 levels?

If so: why?

What he said. I wouldn't invest that many sps into it personally. But at the same time, I don't think you see results in your QBs performance, I think it's more of a team thing. Morale is important, and I think Field General helps out everyone's morale quite a bit.

The General Abilities are very hard to judge as you dont see the result in your personal stats. Like Squab mentioned its more of a team thing. Im sure it can help, but it wont help your QB if you are on a bad team. Personally I dont put alot of SP in it. Not worth the effort in my opinion, but thats just me. If you get a piece of AEQ with it ok so be it, but pass quality bonus pieces are worth more I think!

Actually I beleive the opposite is true. If you are on a bad team than Field General works better as opposed to if your were on a good team. You get morale penalty hits when the dot gets beat by the other dot he is lined up against. If your on a good team your going to win those matchups and not take morale hits so field general or any general ability won't be going to good use

I would imagine also if your in a competitve league like WL or some of the pro-leagues where everyone is pretty much even, and from game to game anything to happen, I would suppose the general abilities work there as well

It depends if your team is good. It's more helpful if you're leading a poor to average team playing against tougher competition.

i don't think it something you have to have at 10, but I'm a firm believer that team moral is the difference between a win and a loss against even competition.

It's almost one of the those "faith" VAs.

Improving moral and stamina is huge, but you can never see a play in where it was good you had it as oppose to not. If your RB just took a Monster Hit, his moral has taken a hit. If then he takes another one the following play he coughs up the ball and the fumble is recovered by the other team. IF, however, you have FG, you give a boost to your RB morale so it's not as low. So when he gets hit again the next play he doesn't fumble, and the drive continues.

FG can be activated and helping you and you wouldn't be any of the wiser. It's effect can't be quantified, which a lot of people hate. Which is why I call it a "fath" VA. Personally, I'm big on moral and stamina and think both play major roles in the outcome of the game, therefore I'm a big supporter of FG.

I am a fan simply because it "supposedly" helps every other O player. Since we have 2 QB's and the other only plays a few downs, I can see that when my guy is in there, everyone else does play better.

That's the only way you can tell. 2 QB's on the same team and results measured.

Sorry to bump an older thread but I was wondering what peoples thoughts were in relation to taking FG past 10 ? I have heard that the diminishing returns are there but that they effect more the chance to fire SA's .Would FG be considered one of those it seems that way by the wording but I was just curious if anyone has taken FG to high levels and are happy they did so .
Thanks
