There are probably only 16-20 top level teams in silver this year (and that may be generous). At least 7 or 8 of those will be gone, perhaps more if any Gold teams fold.

It sounds like most of the teams dropping from Gold didn't have any intentions of competing this year, and we should question if they will next year.

The copper teams moving up are mostly facing CPU and REALLY bad teams, so they probably haven't learned as much in their 1st year as they normally would have (in the old system). There are undoubtedly some teams down there that could make the playoffs in silver, but very few that would have any sort of a legitimate shot at winning a silver league.

This makes me wonder if silver will be a lot easier next year...and, in turn, if a few teams will make Gold very undeservingly.

Thoughts?

there are always guys who are behind the scenes who "GET IT" and do really well, I don't think silver will be a push over.

I understand your concern. Copper 1 is probably te strongest of the Copper Leagues, with several good teams that can compete next year in Silver. Unfortunately, since there are so many Leagues in each division, there will be a number of teams that could be promoted who will be vastly overmatched in their new division. But, at the same time, I think the early success may inspire some of these owners to make their teams stronger. I think the guys who are willing to extend ownership of their teams will also be willing to get better and stay competitive. And with only a single Gold League, the top Silver Leagues should at least continue to be competitive each year with fresh teams cycled in and out. I

I'd say practically everyone that makes gold is deserving. Soft league or not, playoffs usually have decent teams in it. Just in our league, there are going to be at least 3 quality teams that don't make it to gold. I'm sure there are many other similar conferences. Several of the Copper teams are doing quite well too. I look for the quality of play in Silver to maintain the pace where it's at now and Gold to get even tougher.

Well, considering that the champions of the various Silver Leagues will be the ones eligible for Gold status, I think the competitiveness of Gold should actually increase, as the paper teams fold or hit relegation. The question here is how many of those teams are folding? Is anyone aware of how many teams will get relegated/promoted per season? That number will greatly affect the quality of teams in Gold.

That being said....there are various Silver leagues with some very tough competition, where they may be several teams per league that are actually "Gold quality." Unfortunately, this leaves other leagues very very thin - this comes back to that whole thing about PW having TOO MANY LEAGUES. So the problem is, some leagues maybe stacked, where other leagues will be relatively soft.

I think it'll work itself out in a few season. In example, if a team that moved up from CL ended up in a "soft" Silver League, maybe they become champions, maybe they don't ( I highly doubt they would, unless it was DARPA or something. The quality of Silver generally speaking is way better than copper). But let's say they win somehow and end up in Gold. They may be there undeservingly - and they'll get knocked out, relegated, and the world is okay again.

SparkNotes: The system should work itself out in a few seasons. There need to be less leagues in PW.

edit - btw, forgive me if I offend a copper team or something. I admittedly don't know that much about you guys, so it's entirely possible I'm overlooking several super-good CL teams. Cheers.

It was my understanding that there would be 8 teams getting booted and the winners of each silver league would be promoted

Basically. But has anyone heard anything on how they're going to figure out Copper > Silver promotions? Is it going to be a case of just booting every CPU out of silver, if there are still any, and replacing them with copper winners, or just anyone from copper.

There are a few Silver leagues that have one or two CPU teams on them...I assume those will be booted, and filled with Copper Champions. The problem is, I don't know if there's 16 CPU teams floating around Silver to be replaced by the Copper Champions. Now that I think abut it, will there be teams relegated from Silver -> Copper?

I'm assuming those 8 who were relegated would fill in the spots vacated by the previous champions, yes? Unless they became CPU or something...

Yeah that does make sense as far as the 8 replacing the 8 both ways. Yeah the Copper > Silver thing really hasn't been talked about much or explained. Should be interesting to see what actually happens.

By my count there are currently 52 silver teams with one win or less. Most aren't technically CPU teams, but many are full of CPU players. So trimming the herd shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully silver will be more competitive next season. It's been kinda disappointing so far. I feel like the league we were in last season (pee wee 3) was tougher than the league we're in now (silver 8).

No doubt, and I don't even think it is close. Our league last year was awesome though...

I feel like Silver7 is comparable to PW19 last year, 3 good teams on top, some pretty good teams below them, and then not much competition after that.

Pretty sure the bottom two teams in silver will demote along with all the silver cpus. Then the copper champs will all promote, then the runners up will promote as needed to fill vacancies left by CPUs.

Gold will get tougher as their bottom 8 will be replaced by legit contenders from silver.

Silver will lose 8 of it's best teams, but it will get infused with the best from 16 copper leagues, a handfull of which will be contenders and the rest will be mediocre. Of the 8 teams it gets from gold, probably 6 will be non-competitive. But the following season, Silver will be getting good competitive teams coming down from gold, and good teams coming up from copper. It will be much better in the third season of the pyramid.

And copper will remain the place where new teams get their feet wet beating up on cpus and slowbuilds, as it should, it takes a couple seasons to build a good agent core and learn the ropes of pw gameplanning. This will mean teams will stick together longer as they can build good bonds during a winning inagural season rather than getting stomped into oblivion and getting frustrated because they landed in a league with a bunch of 55/31 teams.
