I'm building a SS who I envision as a hard hitter/run support guy, but I don't want him to be useless in coverage either. Speed is being double capped first, but I'm not sure what order to go in from there.

I'm tempted to do Vision next because Agility is not a major attribute and I want to maximize auto level gains for my majors. Also, I'm not sure if I should do strength or tackling first.

Currently, I'm leaning towards double cap speed -> double cap vision -> double cap agility -> start in on tackling or strength. Is that a horrible plan?

I'm in the middle of ...

Speed: Third cap
Agility: Third cap
Strength: First cap
Vision: First cap
Strength: Second/Third cap (where I'm at now)
Tackling: First cap (which is very little SPs, since it'll be trained up so high)
Vision: Second/Third cap

i would say go speed to 73, str (or tck) to 60, and the single cap vis and str/tck, then take ur agility to 60-68, then go back to vis/tck/str as necessary

This would explain your SS's mediocre (at best) stats.

Yes. That must be it.

Care to offer an alternative idea?

I've just started

Train speed/tackling
3rd cap speed
Train strength/tackling
1st cap strength and tackling
Train tackling/agility and agility/vision
1st cap vision
3rd cap agility
2nd cap strength and tackling
Train confidence/stamina/jumping/...

Agility can wait. Training and eq can be used to keep the numbers up. A better order is Speed-Tackling-Strength-Vision-Agility-Confidence,Jumping (even catching if you prefer) whenever.

Speed needs to be at least 3rd capped (4th if you always boost). Tackling at least 3rd, though not necessarily all at once.

This is for a HH safety. There's no point to his existence if he gets to ball carriers only to miss 20% of his tackles. It will help with FFs all well.
The agility 2nd idea would work more for a HH CB than a safety.

The last two posts are probably what I'll follow. My equipment was going to be a split between speed and agility anyways, and I'll make sure I train it some so my guy isn't totally useless in a 13 cap next season.
