Im wanting to get my HB a first step a/e, how rare are they?

I roll first step pieces all the time with my OT, G, TE, DT

Anyone have a powerback with lots of first step? I dont want to know your build or anything, i just want some "constructive" point of views.

I think it's a good idea, I think First Step is one of the best SAs for the majority of classes

I think it's not so good for hb's. break tackle is much better for a powerback

Any position that uses high agility.. powerbacks slowdown when they break tackles, and would benefit from this SA

Very good question. If first step only works from a dead stop (as it says in the description), HB's never "stop", and have their speed controlled by the play call before taking a handoff, first step would only ever be useful when the back runs a receiving route... or potentially receives a pitch since they appear to stop sometimes for those.

Bort made some changes to First Step a few seasons back because he noticed that power backs with lots of ranks in it could break a tackle and be right back at full speed the next tick.

So you would receive the handoff faster and bump into the line before any holes were open???
Doesnt sound to good to me...

Bort stated that it can fire when reduced to a very slow speed. He nerfed it a bit as I recall, but it will still fire if slowed enough and not at a dead stop.

Are you sure? I was told that First Step was nerfed on HB pitches and screens because Bort put a speed limit on the HB so that he had to wait for the ball.

I guess it doesn't really apply to a Power Back, but to Elusive Backs, my understanding was First Step was one of the shittier SA's?
