What are the effects of blocking for a Blocking TE, especially in comparison to Strength?

I'm currently working on getting Strength to the 3rd softcap, then Blocking to the 2nd softcap. Does blocking need to be that high though, or would getting Strength to the 4th softcap before softcapping Blocking be better?

EDIT: some numbers might make this a little clearer! Which would be more effective (base figures shown) and why?
74 strength & 49 blocking
or
68 strength & 61 blocking

I'm going the 68/60 path... If I was doing it again I might softcap blocking first and then going back to 4 cap strength. Level gains would get blocking more than high enough then.

you will get demolished by any good DE you try to block with only soft capped blocking.

Equal blocking and strength.

I like strength. But blocking is also good.

Thanks guys - pretty much confirmed what I was thinking...might even take Blocking up to the 3rd softcap now depending on the situation he's in when I get there.

68/61 at least. for a blocking TE. more really.

For a strictly blocking TE, at least triple-cap blocking. There's no reason not to, since there's only a handful of places you're going to spend SPs in the long run.

And it'll help pass blocking.

You'll always find yourself wanting more blocking.

absolutely. Screen blocking is nice. Blocking downfield..after a pass reception, pitch plays..etc etc.

I would 2 cap it early and leave it alone. It'll hit the 3rd cap pretty quickly by the mid 30's if not earlier.
