It's GO TIME

West

1. Monmouth Evil Monkeys V 8. Compton Vikings. The first time these two met it was a defensive battle with Monmouth pulling off a 13 point win. Larry Smith was held in check and the Compton passing game was ineffective. Merlin was a force in the middle picking up two sacks.

To get the W Compton needs to step to establish the running game. They won't be able to handle the Monmouth pass rush to be effective if they have to go with a pass heavy attack. Defensively they aren't going to be able to cheat against the running game of Monmouth because Drago and Elisha have been lighting it up lately.

Monmouth needs to keep doing what they have been lately on D. No one has had much success controlling the front 4 all year and that has been a key in their 15-1 regular season. Getting Justin and the WR's the ball with a chance to make things happen will be a big factor in Monmouth getting points on the board.

Evil Monkeys win 37-10

2. Washington Wolfpack V 7. Lincoln Navigators. Wow, talk about a tough first round match up for the 2 seed. Even though the Navs haven't been up to speed as of late, they still are a very dangerous team. The first time these two met the Pack pulled off a 1 point win on a late FG. Lincoln had the ball at the end but couldn't get into field goal range.

The Navs have to control the Washington running attack. They won't be able to stop it but if they limit the Packs big plays and hold them to 3 instead of 7 a few times they might have a shot. Offensively the Navs need to get more production out of Shock than they did last time out.

Washington has to get something out of Perez and the passing game. Everyone is so focused on stopping their amazing ground game their are holes that can be exploited by the pass. Defensively WW needs to make sure that Precission is kept under wraps.

WW wins 28-21

3. Honolulu Hurricane Warriors V 6. Ketchikan Kamper Adventure Rentals. HHW won the first meeting between these two by 7. The biggest factor in a very even game was that HHW forced the only turnover which they turned into 3 points.

Ketchikan needs to figure out a way to stop avoid giving up big plays on D. They managed to control Stuart Wang for the most part, but a few slip ups that allowed big HHW gains killed them. On the other side of the ball they have to get something out of the running game. HHW's D is too good to get beat by a one dimensional team.

HHW has to keep Dravz under control. The man can put up scary numbers and win a game by himself. Offensively HHW has to get their WR's more involved. They are too TE and Back dependent in the passing attack.

HHW wins 31-24

4. Minnesota Marauders V 5. Nashville Hounds. The Hounds pulled off a solid win over MM only 2 weeks ago and they look to build off that performance. MM stumbles into the playoffs having lost 3 straight and need to figure out what is wrong in a hurry.

The Hounds need to stop the big plays. MM's O can score from any place on the field in a variety of different ways. The Hounds need to control the ball on O and Keep MM off the field with their attack as much as possible.

Minnesota needs to hang onto the ball. Turnovers have long been a thorn in the Marauders side and they are always huge come playoff time. Minnesota needs to pressure the Nashville QB, something they are one of the best teams at in the game.

MM wins 38-35

EAST

1. Cincinnati Shockers V Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Out of respect for NAN I will not mention the first game between these two teams.

The Nat's have to stop the monster play. Between Orangeblood and Hellion the Shockers are a quick strike waiting to happen. Offensively NAN has to protect their QB, the Shockers Pass Rush is devastating at times and can control the game.

Cinci just needs to hang onto the ball and play their game.

Shockers win 48-21

2. ***Official*** Footballguys V 7. Alpine Golfers. The Golfers won a squeaker 28-27 the first time these two met. Still not sure why OFG went for it on 4th and 1 with 2:36 to go instead of trying a 43 yard FG for the lead.

The Golfers need to stop Big Shirley. When Shirley is having a big day, OFG is always looking at 2nd and 5 or less which really opens up their O. The Alpine passing game has to be consistent and not give up sacks.

OFG has to get Hulk Blazing the ball and do his thing. The Freak dot can score every time he touches the ball. Defensively OFG needs to do a much better job stopping the running game than they did he first time these two played.

OFG wins 35-24

3. New Jersey Blaze V 6. Over the Rhine Red Dots. The Blaze laid the wood to the dots in their first meeting. A balanced offensive attack by NJ and 4 Dots turnover led to the blow out.

The Dots need to hang onto to the ball and Get Cooter involved in the O. They can't get down early and switch over to a pass heavy attack.

NJB needs to keep the pressure on OTRRD passing game and have Packert break a few on O.

Blaze win 31-21

4. Indianapolis Gurupies V Washington Slashers. The first time these two met was in week 2, a lot has changed since that one.

The Slashers need to make sure their O comes to play.

The Gurupies Need to remember what they were doing early in the season

Indy wins 34-21

If you don't think there going to happen it doesn't make any sense to put them in writing IMO

WW vs. LN and NJ vs. OTR are the closest to an upset tbh.

Alpine is 2-1 against OFG in the past 2 seasons. Just saying. I think we'll get to 3-1, personally

Thanks once again CV. Also very sporting of you to give your opponents insights into what you think is important in your own games.

That Lincoln matchup makes me nervous... you'd think the #2 seed could pull a weak sister opponent in the first round at least!

We had two inputs for that situation.

The first was NEAR FG RANGE, and for that game we decided to run to get within FG range rather than try for a long one and miss it.

The second was WITHIN FG RANGE, which of course was set to kick the FG.

Apparently, when you are WITHIN FG RANGE, you also trigger a TRUE condition on NEAR FG RANGE. Because that makes a lot of sense. So the first play got called because it was first on the list and we went for it.

You will need a TD in that situation this time around, so you better check that AI again

Just kidding Duff. Best of luck tomorrow!

HA! That's what you get for winning the last game

You know, it definitely occurred to me that we might have been better off overall losing that game... I'm just too competitive to ever lose on purpose! We all have our faults...

Plus it's not exactly like the other potential opponents are the Steel. Any one of them could beat us. That's why this league has always been the one folks most want to play in.
