An interview of Large Johnson by his agent, nimnim2500, after the playoff loss to the Indianapolis Gangsters in Round 1. Johnson made his only field goal attempt in the playoffs, helping the Irrelevants avoid a shutout to the Gangsters. Johnson went 25/29 in his field goals this season and 30/31 in his PAT's. He was 2nd in FG% out of all players that played 16 games.
Nimnim2500: So, Mr. Johnson, how are you feeling about this year's performance?
Large Johnson: Well we had a great year, growing together as a team. We didn't end up where we wanted to, and got stuck playing a very strong team in Round 1, but I'm glad that I was able to help the team avoid a shutout. I would say that I played well this season, but there is always room for improvement and with the offseason coming up, I will assess my strengths and weaknesses to help myself improve next year.
Nim: That sounds like true commitment. How do you feel about the scrimmages?
Johnson: It seems tedious, because there is nothing to play for. Also, nothing is gained out of the scrimmage. Although, since there is nothing to gain, it gives the opportunity for the coach to have fun with his positions a little bit! I played QB for a couple of games back in high school. We had already clinched 1st seed for the state playoffs so my coach decided to put me at QB. I went 10/24 for 142 yards and 1 TD/1 INT in my first game. We won 17-10. I went 14/18 for 198 yards and 2 TD/0 INT in my second game. We won..(does some adding)..58-3. We had 483 rushing yards that game. I never will forget that second game. Two passing TD's and 5 rushing TD's. Almost 700 yards of total offense.
Nim: Those numbers are quite impressive for the second game, I must say.
Johnson: Yeah.
Nim: Just one more two-part question to wrap things up. How do you feel about the coaching staff, and where do you think this team will end up next year?
Johnson: I absolutely have total respect for both of my coaches, Fresh and Ex. I joined this team at the start of the season at a measly level 4. Now I am a level 13 powerhouse kicking machine. Back to the coaches. They have really helped develop a team that can be considered a playoff contender for next season. They are really staying on top of everything to make sure that our plan for next season hits the ground running before Day 1 of the next season. They are active and friendly, and they are always looking in the forward direction. I am very happy with them. Next year I feel that the team should aspire to be a cup contender. With so many players of our team being so committed to helping, we have a great chance of building an unbreakable chemistry that will help us shoot for the cup next year.
Nim: Thank you Mr. Johnson, it was a pleasure watching you grow this season and it was a pleasure talking to you today. Good luck next season.
Johnson: Thanks to you as well.
