Is it a waste of time to train jumping & blocking. I have heard they help but then again I heard not to waste time with them. Also if you do want to train them how high do you want to go with them?

not waste just do it after everything else is trained and capped. i think 30-40 is good.

Blocking yes. Jumping no. Jumping is at least the 6th most important attribute for a DT.
Blocking is a waste.

Yeah, blocking serves no purpose. Jumping can be trained after other needs are addressed.

Jumping increases diving tackle range and pass deflection ability.
Blocking, helps out barely, if at all.

Blocking plays an extremely minor role in the break block equation. Jumping can be immensely helpful for both diving tackles and diving sacks, plus you might see a few PDs here and there, although I'm fairly sure that height plays just as big, if not bigger of a role than Jumping in the DL PD equation.

+1, I have a 6'6" DT that seems to get more PD's than my other shorter DT's.
