I'm interested to see what you guys think about nonconventional WR builds, i.e builds tailored to attributes other than Speed. I'm not talking about speedless WRs, but ones that can do more than catch the deep ball. I'm interested in these because for my S11 team, we will run with a dual threat QB, who will not have the Strength for the deep ball. We'll be running a power running offense, using our WRs and Receiving FB in quick hitting routes as an extension to our running game.

Here's a list I've thought of in a matter of five minutes or so, so they're not that detailed. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on these and any others you have seen or have thought about.

(This will be a slowbuild team, with all WRs having a base of 68/68/68 SPD/AGI/CAT)

Endzone Threat WR
-Higher Jumping
-With VAs like Primetime Player, having Jumping at a mere 61 will give you 95 Jumping in the endzone

"Incendiary" WR
-Sacrifices Speed for Agility/Carrying
-Use of Head Fake/Juke after a quick catch to gain extra yards
-Complemented by Quick Feet VA

High vision helps with catching in stride, high agility (~85) helps with getting open and adjusting to the catch. Sticky hands SA is the crutch to ensure medium range catches. Spin AEQ supplements the high cost SA, and VAs quick feet and clutch ensure the SA firing in necessary (3rd down) situations, which is where the build would almost exclusively be targeted. Played at #2 or slot receiver depending on match up. Uses creative route running. Slippery VA optional.

Smashmouth WR
-Higher Strength/Carrying
-Runs on a power style for pure broken tackles
-Complemented by Bruiser/YAC Attack

Run Support WR
-Variation of Smashmouth WR
-Trained Blocking for outside runs
-Complemented by Outside Blocker and Showboat Blocker

Route Runner
-Equal Speed/Agility
-Use of Route Run/Quick Cut to create separation

Also, if anybody is interested in slowbuilding one of these types of WRs, let me know, as WR is the only position that's of urgent need in recruiting right now. We will be building on S10, D31, so let me know ASAP.

meh, combine Smashmouth and Run Support
blocking WRs don't really need much blocking at all
blocking WRs don't really need much blocking VAs at all
your smashmouth WR should be your blocking WR

I was thinking that as well. There are some, however, who like being that uber Pancake guy on the outside.

This is my idea of the "balanced receiver" fyi. One of many builds that fits the mold.

This is a lot like what I was wanting for Incendiary: somebody who makes the quick catch and then either Spins or Jukes their way to the first down. I'll add it.

For the Spin build, I'd imagine something along the lines of
speed base 68
agility base 68
carrying base 68
vision base 60

68 speed, 68 agility, 68 vision, 60 catching, 40 jumping, 40 carrying, 40 strength
10 in sticky hands, 5 in RR
5 in spin, 4 from AEQ, 1 from custom
27 eq points,
~73 speed at 48 + 17 eq= 90 speed
~72 agility at 48 + 10 eq = 82 agility
+whatever is on the spin piece, probably agility. Let's assume that adds another 7, making 89 agility

plenty speed/agi for medium routes. the goal is catching while decently covered. I think vision is key
Ball hawk could be useful...
30% increase means 117 speed, 115 agi, and most importantly 91 vision right before the catch.

after that it's maybe a spin, maybe a nice quick agility move past another guy. 15-20 yards, pretty reliable but mostly on 3rd downs

I'm trying something experimental basically what i'm going to do is 3x jumping, 3x catching, 2x speed, agi and vision 1x stregth and confidence and carrying. 9 in Run Route and 10 in First Step. Equipment dead even between catching and jumping. Thinking of making him Streaky too just for extra fun.

Good choices, mr. reliable is the most overlooked VA imo

YAC Attack VA might be helpful here

Mr. Reliable is the best VA for Wrs imo. 30% bonus to catching and not having it get knocked lose on 3rd and 4th. You cant beat that.
