I got a shirt in store that gives me +2 to strengh, and +1 to first step, is first step a useful skill for an SS?

yea, but not the best. First step is good for every defensive position. there are just better options out there.

Please elaborate. Should I try to find better equipment, or just spend the money on training?

What about change direction? I've got two pieces already with +1 to that and not sure if it's actually doing anything for my guy.

At lv 19, I would jump on the +1 Strength/+1 First step AEQ, as long as I am relatively max'ed out on my other AEQ pieces. If you AREN'T max'ed out on the other pieces, and can spend your BT to get more upgrades on those, then you are probably ok to wait.
Looking through your build though, I think you may have some serious speed issues if you begin to paly against level 21 type competition.

I plan on devoting everything to speed at this point, as for the BT, I'd much rather spend them on the player then equipment, not sure if this is flawed thinking but thats how I'm working it at the moment.

Wow, I'm so confused, speed, not speed, equipment, not equipment
Seriously, I do plan on putting a little more in speed, then probably vision, after that I'm not really too sure. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I should be putting points any help would be appreciated. As for boosting equipment I still think the BT's would be better used for the players stats. Correct me If i'm wrong.

I'll post some General GLB "hints" about a SS build for you. You seem to be relatively new, and your build has some pretty common noobie "mistakes". Now please don;t think I'm insulting you when I say that...EVERYONE has to start somewhere!
Overall, I'd say you are NOT too far off the mark with your SS, and you are doing some things that are good. So gimme about an hour to write a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG "hints" entry for you, and then you'll have a ton to think aobut...ok?

No worries, I'm not insulted, not that kinda guy, I asked for th information apperciate any help I can get. And yes I am relatively new, my guy's only been around for two seasons, and this forum looks new as well, so I figured I'd jump at the chance to ask some questions and get some info on improving my guy. He sucked last season so I want to get him in a postion to whoop some ass. Also, don't think this matters but, this season my SS is on a team that is 75% or more cpu players, I'm now a started and am going to get a lot of playing time. The team sucks all around with the exception of one guy on the team helping me out, I'd like to make a mark it at all possible.

There have been a few threads with good insight and info about first step and safeties. Try to check one of those out for good discussion

ok an update, I didn't buy that piece of equipment, didn't have the cash and judging by info I've gotten in other forums, and the help of a guy who sent me more information then i can process, I've bought all normal equipment again and started to upgrade that, currently I'm boosting speed by 8 points, because that seems to be the consensus as far as everyone is talking about. just so everyone I had all AEQ giving me a range of bonuses, but it seems that it might not have been the best route, however Im not selling any of it yet.

Nice build change JackScagnetty.
By the time you get your new normal Eq up to full upgrades possible, you will be looking pretty decent overall.
so it is simple for you from here:
All SP into speed, until you are at the 60.52 soft cap (without EQ adjustments).
then bring vision up to 1st cap, or close to it.
then agility to 1st cap.
good luck!
(and sorry for info overload ;-) )
