Truthfully being good at int's is hard. I have a few builds that (no offense) look twice as good as that and get about 8 int's a season atm. My builds have to get better, and knowing my builds have to get better means you're a long way off.

You could easily make him a shutdown corner though. That's about as easy as it gets.

You can't jump, catch, or fight for the ball.....not gonna get INTs that way. OTOH, you have an ok start for a general shutdown cornerback.

every int cornerback must start as a shutdown QB. It isnt until the later levels until the build diverge. Like mid 30s Id say. They all need appropriate amounts of speed/agility/vision and SV.

dont worry too much about interceptions. its better to just shut the guy down and if you are the no. 1 guy you wont get thrown to anyway.

which could actually potentially be a bad thing if the other CBs on your team arent quite up to par. on a pass play, the ball has to go in the direction of some CB or other player in coverage, doesnt matter if that person has good coverage or not. yeah, if you have better coverage it probably isnt coming your way, but if your other CBs arent quite as good, its almost better to have it thrown your way. id rather it come my way and have a near guaranteed PD, than have it passed to another receiver and have it go for yards.

if the other cb's on your team arent good it wont get thrown to you anyway. the problem with interceptions is that it is mostly a random stat depending more on your team, its players, the other team, its players, who you play vs who another player comes in as a backup plays. i havent got that many interceptions but have seen others with worse builds ie lower stats get like 20 in a year. i think pd's are a better glb stat than int as far as how "good" a cb is.

I'm kinda new to this game...but what would soft capping confidence do for a CB?

at level 40? probably make him a more well rounded player, able to keep his abilities from being negatively effected by morale killing events (opposing team's touchdown, missing tackles, etc)

but ensure you've hit the primary areas first (speed, agility, etc)

i dont think soft capping confidence is necessary... train to 35 should be all you need. use those SPs to pump vision a few points or maybe catching.

Vision is pretty important

Alright, I'll chime in on this.

to make a good Interception CB you need to understand some things:

A. you will never make an interception if you cannot stick to your man.
B. Aggressive INT tries are difficult to not get burnt on, you need a lot of vision.
C. Catching should always be higher than jumping... this even helps for pass deflections.

A good CB finalized build looks like:

Speed: 100+ (all gear goes here)
Agility: 70+
Vision: 70
Catching: 70
Jumping: 60
Tackling: 50
Strength: 50
Confidence: 50

Now this is long ways down the build, but those are in order of their importance and also in order of how you should build them up.

of course there are SAs, but I won't go into those

Vision is solid, catching needs to be capped next... then focus on Superior Vision and Shutdown Coverage for your SA tree. Start putting all your VA's into ball hawk as well and if you REALLY want more INTs and that's all you care about make sure your player is on aggressive coverage.
