As i'm looking at the matchups, it's not looking very good for underdogs. Here's a look at what we have coming up in the first round...
In the western conference..
#1 NBA vs #8 Colorado Springs- NBA is the clear favorite at this point to win the conference and having beaten Colorado Springs 204-0, it's not looking good for the Flyers.
#4 Malibu vs #5 Lafayette- The 4-5 matchup will almost always be your best bet at an upset, this season though Malibu defeated Lafayette in the regular season 44-10 so it will be an uphill battle for the Mudbugs. If Malibu takes this game lightly and Lafayette can put together a brilliant gameplan though they might just have a shot at it.
#2 Bunghole vs #7 Baby- Again this one is really going to be tough for the underdog having lost earlier in the season 115-6, the Giants seem to be a little outgunned in this one.
#3 San Diego vs #6 Chicago- San Diego won their earlier contest 66-20, but Chicago has been an up and down team all season, they have won games that they probably shouldn't have won and lost a few that you'd think they could have won. Chicago has a chance to make this a closer contest than the first game if they fix some holes in their previous gameplan, but in the end I fear the Cyberballers' defense will just be a bit too stiff for them to pull it out.
And in the Eastern Conference...
#1 Fredricksburg vs #8 Pensacola- Fredricksburg is just too much for Pensacola to overcome, the Cavaliers won their first contest 101-6
#4 Ft. Sam vs #5 Richmond- This is probably the most evenly matched game in the first round. Ft. Sam won their first game 45-28, but Richmond has the ability to spring the upset if a few bounces go their way.
#2 Madison vs #7 Orlando- Madison won their first meeting 87-16 and it's hard to imagine the Knights coming up with a plan to beat them. Like the San Diego/Chicago game in the western conference, I believe Orlando can make this a closer game than their first game but I can't see them doing enough to pull out a victory.
#3 West Lawn vs #6 Cincinnati- West Lawn won the first game 75-13 and I expect them to pull out another win this time around. Cincinnati is simply overmatched in this one, but I full expect them to be a game opponent and try to make a game out of it.
