with the improvements to lead blocking, it seems that even FB's with mediocre speed can get up in front of the HB pretty easily. Is it time to rethink the notion that most (or all) FB equipment needs to go into speed?

Depends on how fast the HB you are blocking for is. Do you think you can stay in front of a 105 speed, 80 agility HB on a pitch play if you only have 70 speed and 70 agility?

With outside blocker, yes. That VA is awesome.

If your running back is fast (105+ speed), you'll only need to hold a block for a second anyway so sacrificing blocking/strength for some speed is a good deal. If you're lead blocking for a powerback you could get away with 3rd capped speed with no equip in it.

Around what speed are you looking for per level in a blocking FB?

ETC.
If your are slow building you shouldn't get your speed up (atleast to keeping up with a HB with 105 speed) for awhile.

60ish speed FB's that are stronger are better up the middle, 80-90+ speed FB's are good for outside blocking and/or receiving.
