Now that most of the contributions are in, we thought it would be best to state the rules for the Player of the Year awards. Due to the generosity of a few agents here in SEAPro, we will be able to give out 5 awards per conference, with the winner of each award receiving 1000 flex point!!!! Awards will be given to the best players in Naga/Garuda for the following achievements:

Offensive Player of the Year
Defensive Player of the Year
Offensive Monster in the Trenches (O-Line, blocking FB, blocking TE only)
Defensive Monster in the Trenches (D-Line Only)
Special Teams Player of the Year

Here's how it will work. The day after game 16 (May 27th) , we will start a separate nominations thread for each of the 5 positional awards. Each team will have one week to submit their nominations for each award(a player from your own team). Nominations will be accepted until midnight of the Super Wok IX championship game(June 3rd). At that time, all nominations will be combined into a voting thread. One player from each team must then vote for 1 of the nominees (not a player from your team).

Rules for the competition:

- You must have a paypal account to recieve the cash! We will not be mailing cash or checks to anyone
- Nominations and Voting can only be done by 1 person on the team (the owner will have the ability to override)
- You cannot vote for a player from your team.
- *****Your team must submit a vote, otherwise your players that you submitted will not be eligible to receive the free flex.*****
- A player can only win one of the awards
- Only regular season stats are submittable

Thanks to Rusty Trombone, Celtic Raider, Mors Draconis, onlyrockerfan, SirAllan, Aeakers, G-Bay-be, Joe Boo, Joe87, DubsonD, jrg42, djjacket, Sockamidic for contributing and making the POY awards possible.

Edit: Clarified Monster in the Trenches for O-Line.

You should make it so only stats from non-gut team games count. IE, look at averages over non-gut games.

A more interesting way would be to forgo stats, and be judged on style. Each nominee could submit up to 3 links to his season highlights, from any game, so you could choose gut jobs, but then be judged poorly for it as well.

i think that would be nice for the weekly but for the overall that doesn't really work IMO. we need a good view of the overall season.

You could do stats against this years playoff contenders... Rules out all those pesky gut jobs, plus it gives an essence of who is actually clutch, through producing in big games.

yeah but how are you going to do O-line? by pancakes? yeah that's real nice.... considering an O-lineman is to protect the QB not get pancakes....

I think most of the owners here understand what makes a player worthy of one of these awards, and know that it is not based on stats alone.

And this^^ is exactly how teams should plead their case in the nomination thread! If the agents that nominate their teams' players take the time to show highlights of the players, and not just copy stats from the league leaders page, then people without the meaningless stats would have a much better chance of winning the flex.

BTW....in that highlight, he may have stopped the initial onslaught, but the three guys did manage to gangbang the QB after the pass.

No you dont have to guage it by the pancakes but rather how successful good players are against the OLineman.

A playoff calibur team is not skating by without atleast a respectable line on either side of the ball. So if your OT is going up against by DE, and my DE only gets 1 Tkl on the day, the OT must have had some noticeable impact on my DEs play. Another example. Rawr Rawr is known for being a good pass rusher (despite my disdain for the guy). If he has been putting up 2 sacks against almost all the playoff contenders and then you dont let him get any, there is an obvious achievement there.

Actually it is both. The line blocks for the running game and also blocks for the passing game. Of course you knew that, but you can't rule out pancakes all together. In fact I would look at pancakes first just to see if any of the guys that are great run blockers are also great pass blockers. If they are, then you have the best of both. Right?

welll i mean you can look at the teams who gave up the fewest sacks. hurries and stuff like that. maybe look at the sack leaders then look at the games where they had the fewest sacks...
