Set Tactic: Ownage?

It would definitely have to be pass. It's extremely rare to get sacks on a running play because you'd have to grab the QB before the hand off which I think is near impossible in this game atm.

A sack can only be obtained on a passing play.

Holy shit, talk about a major wake up call. I need to change my d.e's tactics. I thought sacks were on run plays.

I'm fairly sure that setting your DE's tactics to "run" make him less hesitant to attack the backfield, lessening the effect of the snap delay. I could easily just be blowing smoke, but like I said, I'm *fairly* sure that's what I read.

You can get sacks on any of the settings. My DT and DE have not rushed once this season on Pass Focus.

You guys do realize that you're stupid for not rushing on pass focus. It's not like a setting that is based on a vision check or anything. It's merely if the offense picks a pass play your player will be less likely to fail a vision check and halt. So things like draw plays will hurt you but on typical pass plays you will head straight for the QB.

And yes you technically could get a sack on an intended rushing play... but this sim does not really allow for such. I don't feel like explaining it but two words should explain it: Rex Grossman.

So does focusing on the pass give you more sacks but less tackles overall?
Like is a run based DE more like 80 tackles and 2 sacks and a pass is like 30 tackles and 20 sacks?

it could potentially lead to less tackles... because you're more likely to fail a vision check on rushing plays. But it doesn't necessarily mean you won't get tackles if they run right at you. And if you want a comparison although... the run stopping LDE right now gets slightly less plays per game

and has 3 less tackles and 13 less sacks. But that could be based on various other criteria such as the other teams AI and run directions etc.

Yeah, I'm such a noob and it has totally hurt my DT and DE this season.

DT 24 sacks (5th in the league) and 52 hurries (3rd) playing as a level 47 & 48 in AAA.
DE 28 sacks (2nd) and 47 hurries (4th), 1st in MVP race for the conference

There's more than one way to skin a cat grasshopper.

I guess you don't understand what I was saying... leaving it on balance won't hurt you on either style. You just don't get the bonus of noticing pass plays sooner. The man asked how to get more sacks based on settings... we're merely telling him how. I would even argue that if you setup your DE on pass rush you may see a noticeable increase on sacks as well.

And congrats on being in the MVP Race... want a cookie?

I have notice a nice improvement with Pass focus but not much over balance.

How about a little respect for opinions other than your own you arrogant dick. I guess you don't understand that the play focus bonus affects your speed in getting off the line and sometimes getting off the line quick can be in detriment to your player. I know that sounds like it shouldn't be in pass rushing, but it can be because your DT/DE might get a better path to the QB rather than just jumping right into the Guard or Tackle's blocking vector. It's all good though, you keep giving out that advice you're so sure is the only way to do something.

I don't buy the "slow DEs are beating the system," argument. It's stupid, the DEs getting to the QB are the ones with the agl to break a block and the spd to finish the play. This is "football" not a race, slow sucks and there is no steady.

I do believe that Olinemen should get their spd up to engaged a blk quicker but I don't post that on their site.

misled was answering the question that started the thread, calm down.
