13 games down, only 3 to go...
Here is the Alpha Playoff race:
Current Standings
1 FootballForum Fighting Danes 12-1-0 W2
2 Paris Dream Bolts 11-2-0 W9
3 Bonn Dynamo 10-3-0 W6
4 Portland Rage 10-3-0 L1
5 West Wales Warriors 9-4-0 W7
6 Graz Grizzlies 8-4-1 L1
7 E-City Mercenaries 8-4-1 W1
8 Greenwood Alley Cat 8-5-0 W2
9 Aberdeen Wrecking Crew 6-7-0 L4
10 Turin THUNDER 6-7-0 W1
FootballForum Fighting Danes 12-1
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 at (3) Paris Dream Bolts
05/24/2009 (12) Hattgenstein Volunteers
05/26/2009 at (7)E-City Mercenaries
Outlook: FFFD will most definitely retain a top seed. The furthest I see them slipping is 2nd. I think they will handle 3 of their 4 games and the only toss up is PDB. Only way FFFD loses #1 seed is if PDB wins out.
Update: No change. Can lock up #1 on Friday with win over Paris.
--------------------------------------------------
Paris Dream Bolts 11-2
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 (1) FootballForum Fighting Danes
05/24/2009 at (13) Paris Philharmonic
05/26/2009 (5) Graz Grizzlies
Outlook: PDB easily has the hardest remaining schedule. What happens is anyone's guess, they could finish anywhere from 1-3 to 4-0 down the stretch. If they go 4-0 they will be the top seed and for good reason.
Update: Huge win vs Portland keep them in the running for top seed. Biggest hurdle is their next game vs FFFD.
--------------------------------------------------
Bonn Dynamo 10-3
05/22/2009 (6) West Wales Warriors
05/24/2009 at (15) London Monarchs
05/26/2009 (8) Greenwood Alley Cat
Outlook: Graz has risen from the grave and have certainly salvaged what could have been a lost season. The Graz and WWW games will be crucial for Bonn to retain a home playoff game. They have 1 gimme in London, but could lose any of the other three. We look forward to the challenge.
Update: Nice win over Graz keeps Bonn in home field territory and they can virtually lock up a home game with a win over WWW, but WWW is right on their heels.
--------------------------------------------------
Portland Rage 10-3
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 at (12) Hattgenstein Volunteers
05/24/2009 (7) E-City Mercenaries
05/26/2009 at (16) Woodridge Lumberjacks
Outlook: Huge game vs PDB on Wed. Otherwise they will very likely win the other 3. Best case scenario, they retain 2nd, but if they lose to PDB they could end up 4th by potentially losing a tie breaker to Bonn. They could wriggle in at 3rd if they lose to PDB and Bonn stumbles.
Update: Loss to Paris knocks them to 4th. I expect Portland to win out and finish 13-3, but what seed will that get them? Probably 4th, but could be 3rd if Bonn loses.
--------------------------------------------------
West Wales Warriors 9-4
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 at Bonn Dynamo
05/24/2009 Aberdeen Wrecking Crew
05/26/2009 at Team Perkis
Outlook:With probable looming victories in their final two, WWW has one final chance to snag a home game with a win over Bonn. Probable finish 11-5, but 12-4 is their goal.
--------------------------------------------------
Graz Grizzlies 8-4-1
05/22/2009 at Aberdeen Wrecking Crew
05/24/2009 Team Perkis
05/26/2009 at Paris Dream Bolts
Outlook: Graz has struggled to put it in the end zone on the top teams, but it still looks like probably 2 wins and then a toughie to close out. I'd say they'll probably finish 10-5-1
--------------------------------------------------
E-City Mercenaries 8-4-1
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 at Woodridge Lumberjacks
05/24/2009 at Portland Rage
05/26/2009 FootballForum Fighting Danes
Outlook: E-City, like Graz, has struggled against the top teams. E-City finds themselves tied with Graz at the moment, go figure. Unfortunately for E-City they've got two top teams in the final two games of the season. I think they'll finish 9-6-1
--------------------------------------------------
Greenwood Alley Cat 8-5
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 at Turin THUNDER
05/24/2009 Belfast Commandos
05/26/2009 at Bonn Dynamo
Outlook: Three teams vying for the final spot GAC, Turin and AWC. AWC is playing well lately, but the own the tie breaker over both Turin and Greenwood. So, the Greenwood/Turin game is pretty big for both, Greenwood needs it to stay ahead and turin needs it to stay alive. I think Greenwood will finish 2-1 down the stretch and finish 10-6 claiming that final spot. But if lose to Turin and Bonn then they could be in danger.
--------------------------------------------------
Aberdeen Wrecking Crew 6-7
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 Graz Grizzlies
05/24/2009 at West Wales Warriors
05/26/2009 London Monarchs
Outlook: AWC needs to win out to have a shot and with the way they're playing right now that's a stretch because they have two playoff teams in their way. Predicted finish 7-9
--------------------------------------------------
Turin THUNDER 6-7
Remaining Games:
05/22/2009 Greenwood Alley Cat
05/24/2009 Woodridge Lumberjacks
05/26/2009 at Belfast Commandos
Outlook: Like AWC they need to win out to have a chance. Big game for the vs Greenwood and then two struggling teams. I think GAC has the stones to beat Turin and Turin's predicted finish is 8-8
Things could really change, but here is my best guess as to what's going to happen:
1 - Paris Dream Bolts 14-2
2 - FootballForum Fighting Danes 14-2
3 - Bonn Dynamo 13-3
4 - Portland Rage 13-3
5 - West Wales Warriors 11-5
6 - Graz Grizzlies 10-5-1
7 - Greenwood Alley Cat 10-6
8 - E-City Mercenaries 9-6-1
---------------------------------------
9 - Turin THUNDER 8-8
10 - Aberdeen Wrecking Crew 7-9
