Back in the day, I decided to build a strength DE, because I was sure Bort would give strength DEs a boost and that OTs would build more for speed/agility from then on. Turns out, I was right!! For two games! Then strength DEs got nerfed again and suck til this day.

I'm stuck with him now, he's a non-booster anyways on a non-boosting team. But what should I do now to make him more functional? He's great on special teams, but he's also there because he's not so great otherwise. I want him to break blocks so he can get run tackles at LDE, since he'll never be very fast/agile for pass rush. Bort has said that D-line is different now but I haven't seen anything from my LDE so far. Here's his build. Where should I put his equipment??

Attributes
Physical Attributes
Strength: 68.88
Speed: 60.88
Agility: 64.88
Jumping: 22.35
Stamina: 31.35
Vision: 26.35
Confidence: 27.35

Football Skills
Blocking: 14.35
Catching: 8
Tackling: 34.88
Throwing: 8
Carrying: 8
Kicking: 9
Punting: 8

That's without equip, with equip his speed is 66.88 and agility is 70.88. Suggestions? Is there even anything I can do given how DEs are still struggling?

I'm currently thinking I'll cap tackling, but is there something I should do first, maybe? What SAs will help him get run tackles? Keep in mind he'll be leveling up very slowly from now on so I don't have many skill points to work with from now on.

Your vision is pretty below average. I would try and bring that up as much as possible which should help out with pass rushing.

Train vision/confidence while you get agility to 3rd cap, then speed to 3rd cap, If it were me I would then take agility to 4th cap, and speed to 4th cap. Strength should be close to 4th cap naturally by then. Others may say go with SAs or put points into vision sooner. I would train vision to at least 34 and have it over 88% trained before capping it though.

I wouldn't expect good results with this type DE for a couple more seasons when you start getting SAs up.

I'd 4 cap Strength, 3 cap agility & speed while capping tackling at some point and put most of my gear in strength with the rest in agility.

Strength DEs can be effective, but they aren't going to put up big sack numbers so its often hard to tell if they work or not.

I don't have time to get stats that high. I'm not boosting him so getting up there will take forever. I'm looking to make him useful as soon as possible.

I've essentially given up on pass rushing. He'll take ages to get fast and agile enough to sniff a sack, so I'm trying to get him to run stuff well.

Yet again, that'll just take too long since I'm not boosting. I'm looking to round out his build right about now, I don't have time to slow build him anymore. I'm actually looking to go SAs very soon, but I'm unsure which ones help to stop the run. Do any containment skills work? Shed Block? And should I even bother with tackling? It seems like a good option just so I can use power tackling for some special teams FFums.

I'm going to touch speed/agility again eventually, but he's going to take forever now to get to level 35, so I really need him to be useful now for the sake of my no boost slow build team.

Also, I'm currently training vision/confidence, have been for a while. Vision is going to have to wait for ~35 through training.
