i cant for the life of me stop the running game out of a 3-4 formation. even with 100% run focus and 100% blitz nothing works. the players have good but not great builds. other than changing the players/builds is there anything i can do to slow down the running game? i mean there should be some tactical way to 100% sell out against the run, but i just cant figure it out.

Don't stack the box like this. Your LBs are worthless playing so close to the line of scrimmage. They just get blocked by the O-line. Give them more space.

Use the DPC and move your DE's inside a little bit.
You won't be able to stop inside runs with your NT lined up over the C, and your DE's lined up outside of the tackles.

so its literally imposable to run a 3-4 without making a bunch of custom plays. that's just great...

so your saying that 5 linemen can block 7 players every play? whats sad is i am 99% sure that in this game they can.

The offense doesn't have a FB and TE blocking?
Also, the line shift may help to stop the run, at least in the direction that you shift the NT.

If it's an inside run then it's 5 linemen vs 3 d-men + 2 LBs. The 2 OLBs are out of the play.

You will not run an effective defensive AI without the DPC this season. You're missing out on too much not using it. Scout, find their tendencies, attack those tendencies.

I stopped the run all the time in seasons 4-6 without custom D plays. It's more about personnel than setup. If you have wussy LBs, they won't help you stop the run.

Disagree. Every play is a missed tackle if you can't get to the ball carrier.

I did a pretty good job stopping the run with our 3-4
I used da DPC 2 shift the DEs 2 an inside shade of the OTs.
Then i pushed the OLBs out a lil farther and about a yard closer 2 da line.
We had a pretty good defense and stopped a lot of teams that ran over 4-3 defenses.
However, this was in a peewee league so mayb i just got lucky

Yeah it does look like positioning of the LB's is really important in a 3/4. Too close and they get cut off or interfered with on runs to the outside so I am planning on tweaking how close to the line they are so they have better angles to the outside when needed.

What worked for me was placing the LOLB across on an inside shade or even head up on da TE.
Maybe he jus had a good build but he made da plays he needed 2.
I put da ROLB a couple yards over from da RE.
