Should us wideouts work on blocking for run plays?

not unless you're on a very, very heavy run team and plan to be for a looong time
and even then, it's sketchy
and even then, it's sketchy

I would train it up to the 20-25 range once you get to the point where nothing else really gives you a good value anymore

Only after you can't train Speed, Agility, Vision, Catching, Caring, Str, Confidence, Stanima and Jumping (not in that order) should blocking be trained.
It has been proven that you really don't need that much blocking to throw a block.

It will help with blocking, breaking tackles, and supposedly it helps haul in passes but I've never actually seen that confirmed by anyone who would actually know.

I just intensed trained strength and blocking past 30 for the heck of it on my higher level WR, kinda pointless but got me bonus tokens nonetheless

a good blocking WR can make a big difference on outside runs, the difference between a few yards and a big gain. It's not glamorous, but it can be very effective if your game plan includes a lot of outside runs. even some training can help and a low blocking WR can make a block sometimes, but the more you have the more often and the longer you can hold the blocks, and even move the CB completely out of the play or pancake him.

I have a theory on the blocking aspect also...I have a WR lvl 44 that had only 8 in blocking but 31 in strength. In a few games I noticed that I ended the game with very low morale (confidence at 41 or 42 I think)..upon review I noted that I got pancaked over 10 times by the CB covering me when the play was on the ground (running play)....had a few catches and a few PD's but the pancake issue was interesting.
So, I can only assume that blocking can help us in a few areas:
1) Can obviously assist as stated above on outside running plays and as outlined in the WR Blocking analysis that was done and is at the top of the WR position forum as a sticky....many O/C's like WR's to have some blocking
2) If blocking at 15-20 can counter your WR from getting pancaked, we can greatly reduce the morale hit that happens
3) If your blocking/strength can BEAT the CB/SS/FS and you can pancake them (last game I had 3 pancakes and have blocking up to a paltry 11) we BENEFIT from the morale boost that occurs.
Again, as some stated above, after you are somewhat comfortable with your necessary stats of which there are MANY, it may yield some great results to get blocking up to at least 20. I will update this thread when I hit 20 after intense training it with agility.

Here's a perfect example.

If that WR wasn't able to take that CB out of the play, it could have cost the team a TD.

yup. we've been running outside a lot this season and I can definitely see the difference between WRs in this area based on their blocking and strength. Here's one example of my WR (46 str, 34 blocking) not only pushing the CB out of the way (holding the block until long after the play is past him) but in the process blocking the FS out long enough so he can't make the play either.

WoW, that is an interesting theory re pancakes, and blocking/str helping to avoid being victim to them. and getting pancakes on the CB on running plays will lower their morale. My WR has 6 pancakes so far this season, 1 per game, which is no huge thing, but none of our other WRs have any. It would actually be an interesting strategy to have 1 WR on a team built so his sole purpose was to dish out pancakes to CBs on running plays, putting them into morale spirals that the other WRs can take advantage of...
