This is my guy, he's level 3 right now with 25 SP..My main point for this is to see how power backs are doing this year, the team's I am on don't seem to be doing to hot, but maybe its just the build. If they are doing good still I will probably make a pure power back, otherwise should I make a combo back or retire and start a speed back?

What's your plan?

Well if I'm making a power back I would 4:1 cap strength and then 2:1 cap carrying, then prolly second cap speed and agility.
If I'm going to make a combo back I would 3:1 cap strength and do the same with speed, then agility to 2:1 cap, then cap carrying..

OMGWTF would know better then I, but you should probably 2nd cap Speed sooner then later.

3:1 Strength 2:1 Speed, 2:1 Carrying, then go an do 4:1 Strength.

+1. Speed then str then carrying (1 cap until you hit level 48, then 2 cap). agility is not that important, but at least first capped is necessary by level 40.

Am I the only one that believes strength isn't important for a power back since my HB is doing extremely well and breaking tackles on 50% power running with 60 strength?

57 carries only 3 broken tackles for my powerback =/

I'll let you figure out how exactly you want to cap based on what exactly you want to do, but I would rank powerback's attributes:

1) Strength
2) Speed
3) Carrying

4)Agility

5) Confidence
6) Stamina
7) Vision

The last three can be trained to 40+ when you reach diminishing returns on your majors while capping them. First group to 68+, second group to 60+, third group to 50+. The rest is all SAs, VAs, and AEs.

I absolutely would not say that strength isn't important. I would say that strengths importance has been overstated in the past. Strength, carrying, and speed are the bread and butter of the powerback mold, but you can definitely build a successful HB without 68+ strength provided you have the right SA/VA/AE combination.

I actually think that VA is everything for a powerback. Because last season my HB was an elusive HB with elusive VAs. Yes my build is balanced and it's easy to shift from elusive and power which is great but adding about 7 agility and 6 carry /= powerback. But adding Red Zone Freak and Bruiser has in my opinion, made all the difference.

I actually can see this as being true because most players on the defense other than the D-Line won't have much over about 70 strength with equipment, especially at the lower levels like 20s-30s. And if strength is all you have you probably will just get ganged tackled anyway. I like this idea, I'll probably go for something like this, do you think all equipment should go in strength?

My Power back is doing well in his first year in the SA Pro league.

82 carries
5.5 YPC
62 broken tackles
0 Fumbles lost

I rank power back attributes in this order for a straight up wrecking ball power build:
Str
Car
Agi (you'll never get to top speed without the acceleration provided with agility, IMHO)
Spd

You don't need more than first capped agility. Cap it when you want to start being competitive but I wouldn't use any more SP on it, ever. I'd only keep it around as an intense training option, you can get it into the high 50s with training and levelling and then it really will be enough assuming you run on 75-100 Power (I've always run on 100 Power).
