Would break through be helpful to a DT? It works good for my NTs but does a DT get doubled enough for it to be worth it?

+1, especially if your DC shifts the D-line.
We have been doing this a ton and while its not a bad thing it is providing and opportunity for our DE's to get pressure and it helps shut down the run game by opening holes for the LB's.
