Hello everybody,
As some of you may already know, Mike had a major seizure whilst undergoing surgery some weeks ago, this lead to fairly major complications.
Mike was in very poor health before the surgery, and the seizure meant what should have been a 2 hour routine operation became a 16 hour emergency procedure, during which his heart stopped beating on two occassions.
After the surgery Mike's health continued to decline and we were told he had got an infection which was causing his immune system to attack healthy organs, his Liver and Kidneys began to shut down.
It was pretty touch and go for about a fortnight, but thankfully he is now on his way to what we pray will be a full recovery, although were do not expect him to ever recover the use of his legs or regain vision in his right eye. Its also 50/50 if he will regain the full use of his right arm.
When I left him today he was scheduled to be moved from the high risk suite to a private room tomorrow morning, and he mentioned in passing being happy at being able to talk to his friends on GLB again, who I regret to say, I comepletely forgot about.
I'd like to appologise to those who were worried and had no news, I personally have only a small interest in GLB, mainly facilitated by Mike, but he speaks of the entire GLB community with much warmth and respect, and I should have thought to update you all on his situation.
His wife Sandra would like to pass on her thanks to all those who have already sent their best wishes and especially to those who helped him through his previous stays in hospital.
Mike has always said that having GLB has helped him stay upbeat and sharp after such a long time in hospital, and I expect him to be online just as soon as he can.
I will be visiting Mike daily and will make sure he sees (or hears) your messages from now on.
Please feel free to spread this news to all who might be interested.
