Here they are for another week. I achieved perfection, going 8-0 last week and bringing my season to date record to 36-12. I'm hoping for another respectable outing this time around.
Sacramento SS Psychos (9-3) vs. Dallas Longhorns (9-3)
This is a great matchup against two teams in the hunt for a home playoff game. Dallas enters the game having won 5 of their last 6, while Sacramento has lost two in a row. These teams are very evenly matched, and it is hard to pick a distinct edge on either of them. Look for Sacramento to lean on its strong defense, and expect Dallas to control the clock to keep Sacramento's offense off the field, as this could be a very close and intense game.
Prediction: Dallas 17, Sacramento 14
Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (8-4) vs. Portland Aftershocks (10-2)
Portland holds the longest winning streak in the conference, with 5 straight victories. Louisiana is on a skid, losing 3 of their last 4. Louisiana's offense must break out of its funk, one that has them scoring 9 points per game in their last 4 outings. Portland, on the other hand, will rely on its incredibly stingy defense, which has 8 shutouts on the year and a combined 72 points allowed.
Prediction: Portland 27, Louisiana 7
Fort Worth Red Raiders (6-6) vs. Atlanta Dirtybirds (11-1)
The Dirtybirds have clinched a playoff spot and hope to extend their 4 game win streak, and Fort Worth has won 3 of their last 4 games. This game will be a battle of whose passing game can produce more against the other's pass defense, as both teams pass well despite being susceptible to being passed on. Fort Worth will need to score well above their average of 12 points/game to stay in this game.
Prediction: Atlanta 24, Fort Worth 10
Montana Carnage (5-7) vs. St. Paul Shockers (1-11)
These are two teams going the wrong way. Montana is falling out of the playoff race with three straight losses, while St. Paul has lost 10 in a row. St. Paul must get their offense back on track, as Montana has given up 419 yards and 25 points per game in their losing streak. The Carnage must also revitalize their offense, which has scored 25 combined points in their skid, and they will have a chance against a Shockers defense giving up over 28 points/game on their 10 game skid.
Prediction: Montana 20, St. Paul 10
San Francisco Hawks (3-9) vs. Coruscant Death Stars (8-4)
The Hawks, having lost 4 of their last 5, take on a Death Stars squad that has now won 6 of their last 7 games. San Francisco's offense needs to improve on its 6.4 points/game in their last 5 matches to have a shot, while Coruscant needs to merely stay the course. The Death Stars have averaged 28 points/game on offense in their last 7 games, while their defense has allowed multiple touchdowns just twice in that same span.
Prediction: Coruscant 27, San Francisco 6
Gotham City Punishers (3-9) vs. Minnesota Lumberjacks (6-6)
These are two teams in complete opposite directions. Gotham City is 1-6 in their last seven games, while Minnesota is 6-1 in that same stretch. Gotham City will have their work cut out for them, as their offense has to score against a Lumberjacks defense that has allowed more than 7 points just once in the last seven games. Minnesota needs to bounce back from their first game without a touchdown in four weeks.
Prediction: Minnesota 21, Gotham City 7
Mid-Pac Warriors (2-10) vs. Riverside Revolution (4-8)
These are two teams that have just about fallen off the face of the earth. Neither one has much of an offense to speak of, and you could say the same about their defense. In their last 4 games, Mid-Pac has allowed under 60 points just once, while Riverside has allowed under 50 points twice in that same span. The offenses on both teams are just as inept, as they have scored a combined 83 points in the last 18 games. The big question is, which team will suck the least to get the win?
Prediction: Riverside 14, Mid-Pac 10
Houston Wave (1-11) vs. Seattle Fish n Chips (10-2)
Houston finally recorded a win last week against St. Paul, but now they take on a Seattle squad that has convincingly won their last 4 games. Houston will need to rein in their defense, which has given up under 20 points just twice all year, while Seattle hopes to impose their will with an offense averaging 44 points a game in the last 4 weeks.
Prediction: Seattle 49, Houston 7
