Does anyone know how the "spy" option works in the custom play designer? And I assume "man" coverage would follow the same rules as man coverage did before in terms of assignment?

Spy should work where the Spy floats around behind the line, shadowing the ball carrier, ready to blitz the QB should he leave the pocket. If he hands the ball off, the spy should switch to what every player does - tackle the guy with the ball.
I'm interested to see how it plays out - how fast the spy reads the QB when he leaves the pocket, hands the ball off, or throws.

Should be fun!
That is all.
and thiis is why I say there will be a lot of crying next season...some that think they know what they are doing..and some that do know what they are doing
I see a lot of defenses getting blown up..then threads saying"this player is over powered" or "this play is an exploit"

I see the opposite also. I've gotten some plays drawn up where I don't see how the offense will do much with against it.
only question I have about the D plays you create is - where you set man coverage, say, set CB 1 to cover WR 1, and the next option is to cover another O player (HB, FB, TE etc), does this just work if the player you covered in option 1 isn't on the field or will he switch to covering the HB on a run play where the player in option 1 blocks rather than running a route?

Pretty sure it goes to the next person if that player isn't running a route. Not 100% certain though.

I'm getting some saying it does and some saying it doesn't (thru PM's) but I hope you're right - seems more realistic that way though I expect how fast they read and react should be related to their vision, which is pretty much 'football smarts'. I'm also of the understanding that if I put, say, the SS to cover the TE, he'll line up over the TE, but I recall reading Bort saying that this only applies to players outside the box. So if I line the SS somewhere near where the LB's lurk, would he cover the TE from where I put him in the created play or would he just automatically line up over the TE? Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I'm thinking WR's and TE's line up over the top. HB's and FB's line up wherever you want. I don't think he is considering the TE "in the box".
